I went to Blis for the first time last week. I had an appontment with Jennifer the owner. I went to get the special Ouidad cut and I have to say I LOVE it!! It was such a relief to find someone that can cut and style my hair after 35 years!! After having bad experinces my whole life it is wonderful to find someone that can walk me through styling and answering all my questions. I highly recomend Jennifer and Blis salon.

Fantastic!! I have been seeing Nicole for years. So has my mother, my daughter and my best friend. She is great with all hair types. I have curly hair and get the ouidad cut. I was recommended to her off that website. I had bad haircuts for years until now. She was very patient in hearing about my trama and walking me through a solution. My mother and daughter have straight hair and look great too!

Terrible business! DO NOT support this dishonest business. They sold Groupons for their other salon, a month before it closed so now many of us have paid for something we can't use!! They sold Groupons knowing they were going out of business. These owners are sick, disgusting humans & I hope this salon closes very soon as well

I bought gift certificates at the owner's other salon in Arsley, Alter Ego, in December and it closed for business in January. My bank account shows the money went to Blis Salon in Blakeney, where they do not even offer the services I purchased. They refuse to refund my money or return my phone calls. My advice is to stay away from this business.

I had beautiful curly hair. When I would walk into other salons, their master stylists would rave about my hair and the cut. My hair has been ruined by this salon. There are so many unethical and immoral practices at this salon. What upsets me most is the manipulation and deceit the owners have committed on clients who have bad experiences and supposedly good experiences. First, they are very sly about their charges. They will not inform you that you will be charged for services or they will treat you like you're ignorant if you complain. Second, the "Ouidad" cut they do is incorrect, it is wrong and I will inform Ouidad headquarters about it. They take advantage of customers because they slightly improve their hair, the cut (if you have had it before) lasts 5-10 minutes. Other than the carve and slice method of taking out bulk, they do not know how to cut layers into CURLY hair to give it shape. I received absolute refusal of layers for curly hair. The result is looking like you have cocker-spaniel ears for hair. The stylists are sloppy, several times I had dye splattered on my face or arms (I should have worn my painting clothes). They do not listen to what you want, they give you what they feel like doing. I was told that they could not give me more than one shade of highlights, which again if you did not know better, they would get an easier job. I am appalled by the nonchalant behavior of the owners when I confronted them on these matters, no politeness, no kindness, strictly they have your money and there's nothing you can do about it. If offered to go back and "fix" my hair, I would not have accepted. I would not recommend anyone to go there, even if some stylists were skilled, because I find financially supporting an unethical and manipulative business to be against my moral standards when there are good hair stylists out there trying to make a living.

I strongly do NOT recommend anyone with curly hair going here. When you walk out of a salon and someone asks you “what happened to your hair”, you know it was especially bad. I’ve had naturally curly hair for all of my over 40 years , and those with naturally curly hair know, we know curly hair best. I travel a lot for my job, & have been able to get my hair cut by the Oiudad salon in NYC & other Ouidad certified stylists around the country, as well as by other “curl specialists” that use other curly hair techniques. Having went through the struggle to find quality professionals to trust with my curly hair, I feel it is my duty to others with curly hair to pass along my experience at Blis Salon & what I’ve learned through the years. The cut Brenda gave me was far cry from anything close to a Ouidad cut & had no modern style to it at all. Though it was nice have felt like I was taken back to the early ‘90s, maybe even ‘80s, hair styles have come a long way since then and there are a lot of knowledgeable and gifted curly hair stylists that can give you a cut that has the modern style of at least in the last 10 years. Brenda may have over 30 years of experience cutting hair, but her cut style matches that of when she started cutting hair. The cut she gave me was the worst haircut I’ve had in my 40 years. I am not saying that the Ouidad technique isn’t good, it is. I’m saying Brenda does not know what she is doing when it comes to cutting curly hair. I left there looking like a poodle with kinky curly flappy ears from the way she cut my bangs. This was the style, unfortunately, from the early ‘90s before people really starting to know how to cut curly hair. You can use that technique of framing the face for straight hair, but not for curly.

Through the years, I’ve found some key things to look for in your curly hair stylist:

-They listen to what you have to say about your hair. After all, don’t you know your own hair best? I was *trying* to explain my hair type, what I like to do with it, and how I like to have it cut to Brenda, but she did not want to hear it. She would interrupt me and say she knows curly hair and what it needs. Every time I tried to tell her something, I couldn’t get a full sentence out because she would interrupt me and explain how she knows exactly what to do with curly hair. She does not have a clue on how to cut & work with curly hair. Her cut was the worst I’ve ever had. Ever. I told her I did not want my bangs done like she did them. She did not listen to even the little I was able to get out.

-They have curly hair themselves. I’m not saying that someone with straight hair cannot be good at cutting curly hair. I’m saying the best cuts I’ve had come from people that have curly hair. Its as if you have to have curly hair to really fully get it and know how to work with it.

-They know modern hair styles and how to create them with curly hair. No doubt the style Brenda learned 30 years ago was what was fresh and new 30 years ago, but a good stylist remains current with hair styles and can create them successfully. Brenda would really benefit from learning more current hair styles.

So, fellow curly cues, please save yourself a lot of money and a lot of anguish and do not let Brenda at Blis Salon touch your beautiful curly hair. I’m able to get my hair cut perfectly by others for half the price. Yes, I said half the price. These are my words of wisdom, from one curly cue to all others. I feel a civic duty to share what I’ve learned to others with curly hair. Be well.

Do not go to Blis to get your curly hair cut. Brenda should stick to cutting straight hair. It could only be better, I would hope.

The haircut is not the issue here. The owners are not nice people. They do not treat their clients with respect. If you are 10 minutes late, they cancel your appointment. If you cancel your appointment the same day, they may charge your credit card. They won't tell their clients of a cancellation policy, or give them a warning. They will just charge you, and then they don't have the decency to call you back to discuss it. It doesn't matter if you have a legitimate reason or not. They clearly do not value their clients' business. Sometimes life happens, and sometimes people have to cancel. That is part of being in a service business. Period. If you want to be treated with respect, and feel like you are valued as a customer, do not go to this salon. They just want your money.
