I finished paying for my daughter's costume for her up coming recital. After I paid for the costume, I was told that in order for my daughter to participate, we had to pay a 45 dollar performance fee. This was the first time I was told of this fee. I was pretty ticked that the school had waited to tell me AFTER I had purchased the costume. The school then gave me the costume. I opened it up. The costume was adult sized but was intended for my 7 year old daughter. I paid 67 dollars for a costume that is grotesquely to large for her. The school refused to refund my money even though they made a mistake in sizing. The school measured her and ordered the costume without telling me. They said they would have their seamstress take it in on the sides. I am a seamstress and have worked in many costume shops. There was no way to take it in without compromising the quality of the costume. Despite their mistake, they refuse to refund the money I had spent MINUTES before on the costume. They used every excuse in the book including, "we are not charging you for other costumes that we ordered for your daughter." (I had never authorized them to order other costumes. According to their company policy, I have to authorize them before they order costumes.) "You have to take it up with the costume company" (I didn't make the order because it's the schools supplier. I never even filled out an order form) "We will no longer charge you a performance fee. We don't do that for just anyone. This is us saying sorry that your costume is too big." I have withdrawn my children from the school with tuition paid up-to-date. I expect my money back.
