We joined EVSM exactly a year ago. Both my kids and husband started taking Guitar lessons. My daughter started learning Piano with owner's wife. We were very happy with her teaching style, until she went on maternity leave. One day I received email from her saying she will not be able to continue teaching my daughter after she returns from her leave. I sent emails to her asking why, but never received any reply back. I called the school one day, owner came on phone. He said his wife felt disrespectful by us. I asked what happened. Apparently during the days when sub was teaching, I asked receptionist(Owner's Motherinlaw) if the sub could give piano lessons to my son. She completely misunderstood and told owner’s wife that I want to change piano instructor for my daughter. Despite trying to clarify the misunderstanding few times, owner kept repeating how disrespectful his wife felt by this (I feel it was very unfair to me and my kids). Our experience was very disappointing.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

We started with EVSM about 4 months ago. I had previously interviewed one of their violin music teachers in January and was not impressed with the way their business was ran so I went somewhere else. When I met with one of the teachers in January the receptionist never said “hello” she just asked the music teacher, while I was standing next to her, if I paid the trial lesson fee yet and emphasized to her, again while I was standing there, that “it must be paid first.” Later when I called to share my experience and why we did not choose them (lack of customer attention and obsession with money) the receptionist revealed the business was having financial difficulties and had to be more firm with regard to getting paid. In July we changed piano teachers and I again, against my better judgement, interviewed on of EVSMs piano teachers. My son really liked this particular teacher over the others we interviewed so I started him at EVSM. From the get go the obsession was with the money even though I signed up for autopay as required. My son went two recitals. One very informal – show up when you want and the other not. Being new to a “music school” (previously had home lessons) we were unaware of how recitals worked and unfortunately showed up to the second recital in a similar fashion and were “ripped apart verbally” in front of our son by the father in law of the owner. He told us we “should have shown up on time. He can’t play – its too late now.” After protesting mildly that we were unaware of the differences in the recital the owner came out and allowed our son to play. We were later sent a scathing email from the owner’s wife (daughter of the man who “ripped” us verbally at the recital) saying she would not have allowed our son to play either and we were being fired from receiving piano lessons. All in all our experience was very disappointing – the purpose of this review is just to share that.
