Mann Plumbing started business in January of 1957, founded by Bob Gordon and Bob Mann. At the beginning of this plumbing duo, the company was called Gordon and Mann Plumbing. Upon the unfortunate death of Bob Gordon, Bob Mann became sole owner of Gordon and Mann Plumbing, at which time Bob changed the name to Mann Plumbing. After many years alone, Allen, Bob's son joined him in August of 1985 due to the coaxing of his mother. Along with Allen joining his father he brought with him the famous saying of "Don't call a boy to do a MANN'S job!" which has remained their slogan ever since. In 1989, Bob decided to go part time so Allen started running the business. In 1992, Allen and his wife Sheila took over the company due to Bob finally retiring. Unfortunately, Bob's retirement only lasted 4 years. Allen and Sheila have owned the company and ran it themselves until 1998, when Brent Staats at the age of seventeen joined Mann Plumbing thanks to a great friend of Allen and Sheila's matching them up. Brent celebrated his 10th year with Mann Plumbing on June 1, 2008. During this time Allen's son's Robbie and Spencer have worked now and then with Robbie joining the business full time in 2006 after graduating from Centerburg High School and now attending DeVry University, in small business management, looking towards the future running his Grampy's original business in Westerville with Brent and his brother in the future. Spencer goes to Centerburg High School works for us during the school year in a school/work program in the summers. He is planning to go to a plumbing school when he graduates next year. In February of 2005, Mann Plumbing hired another employee, Mark Starkey who has been with us ever since fitting into our little plumbing family. In September of 2006, Allen took on a job fulltime with the City of Westerville Service Department, holding onto his family business at the same time. At that time Allen and Sheila asked Brent if he would be interested along with Sheila running the business for Allen. Luckily for us Brent agreed and is now in charge of daily operation and the daily running of the business. In 2000, due to going from a sole proprietor to a limited liability company, Mann Plumbing had to unfortunately change their name slightly so we now run by the name of A. Mann Plumbing, Ltd, which confuses some of our 50 plus year customers. We, at A. Mann Plumbing, Ltd, are proud to say that we have been in business for 53 years now serving Westerville, Worthington and surrounding areas, thanks to our committed customers of 53 years. We not only have some of the same customers that Bob had but we also have their children, grandchildren and neighbors. So I guess you could say thanks to our WONDERFUL customers and good ole Grampy we will hopefully be in business for another 53 years.
