We recently moved into our home, so when the AC stopped working this summer, I was unsure who to call. I called Emery Heating & Cooling because they install and service the same brand of AC installed in our home. On July 12, the owner, Richard Emery, and his associate responded to the service call I placed that morning. They inspected the system and determined it was two pounds low on coolant. After cleaning the condenser coil with a water hose, they recharged the system, but no attempt was made to diagnose the source of the coolant leak. I was charged $65 for diagnosis, $79 for cleaning / inspecting the AC unit (discounted from $125), and $114 for coolant. Later, I removed the cover from the outside AC condensing unit and properly cleaned out the dirt and debris.

Two weeks later on July 26, the AC stopped working again. Emery Heating & Cooling was unable to return that morning, so I contacted a second company. It was determined the cause of the malfunction was a coolant leak in the evaporator coil and I was charged another $50 for diagnosis. Due to the excessive heat, we were forced to leave our home for 2 days until the evaporator coil could be replaced. If the coolant leak in the evaporator coil had been properly diagnosed by Emery Heating & Cooling, the issue could have been resolved much sooner at less expense.

I wrote a letter of complaint to Emery Heating & Cooling on August 2, seeking reimbursement for improperly diagnosing the problem and to cover lost wages from the morning of July 26. Their website (http://emeryheating.com/) states "We guarantee our work and our products", however I have yet to hear from them in regards to resolving my complaint.

Don't Recommend Emery
