King s Material started business in 1882 when William King established a plaster mill in Iowa. The company kept the river channels open for navigation by dredging sand for construction and municipal use. King s Crown Plaster, as it was called then, began delivering ready-mix concrete to industrial, commercial, infrastructure and residential construction projects in the area in 1935. In 1998, Stone Concepts, a stone fabricating facility, was purchased to compliment the masonry product line. In 2003, Marquart Concrete Products was acquired. Its variety of landscaping, concrete masonry and brick products add to the company s ability to provide building materials throughout northern Iowa, as well as southern Minnesota. Other products include ready-mix concrete, concrete block, brick, stone, masonry fireplaces, Keystone retaining walls, Kings-Wall retaining walls, Kings-Stair, Kings-edge edging stones, concrete and clay pavers, architectural concrete masonry, and other landscaping and masonry products. King s Material is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
