I was at my primary care doctor for blood pressure when for some reason it went way higher than ever, so much so that he wanted me to go straight to the ER... he was really concerned. we went to Cedar Park Regional, no waiting but upon entering I was clearly interrupting a conversation with check in staff... after a brief moment I was checked in with note from my doctor and record of my bp's at which time I was asked why was I there??? really, I again said my doctor sent me...I was taken to a room, and hooked up to an ekg and waited to see a doctor... He too asked why did I come to the ER? my bp was 146 / 115... I asked again why would you ask that, clearly my doctor felt it was needed...he went on about over reacting, I asked are you saying my doctor was wrong in being concerned...? he then avoid that & said, this can be handled in the doctors office, and then refer to cardio. they gave me 2 pills that knocked me out..& the bp came down, I was discharged. I could hardly see straight, no wheelchair or assistance.no bed side manner at all. I almost fell, had it not been for my husband i would have. went home and slept for several hours. and followed up with my cardiologist.Then the bill, was outrageous. over $4000.00 & did not see a cardio, just a doctor on duty..was treated like I was wrong to be there, I felt like I wasted MY time, they acted like I wasted THEIR time... and my insurance took the bill apart... they had billed for every little thing... blood & pills.... I am guessing several different tests within the one blood sample... but insurance said it was all covered under Emergency...& should not be billed separately. so added worry it was all coming back on me. but I think now it has been adjusted... not a good experience, not sure I would go back. The facility is wonderful, but when you are a bit worried cause your own doctor of many years wants you to go to the ER..and you get treated like this, it is very upsetting. There was a satisfaction call the next day, when I said I had a few issues... they hung up???
