What are you really getting for your money? Who will perform the work? What kind of preparation will the surfaces receive? What products will be used? How many coats of paint will applied? How will the contractor protect the homeowner's property and valuables? How will the contractor leave the property upon finishing the job? The answers to these questions are very important to the success of your particular project. Have the contractor write up his plans in a WRITTEN estimate and then compare all the estimates. At Eurodecor we always suggest getting at least three estimates. That way you can see what you are really getting for your money. Usually lower prices mean less prep fast and sloppy production jobs. Workmen's Compensation and Liability Insurance Workmen's Compensation and Liability Insurance is for the protection of the homeowner. If a contractor damages your property or if a worker is injured while on your property you will be protected. Please ask for proof of insurance. Don't just take contractors word for it. Estimate in Writing A specific, easy to understand written estimate is crucial. It must include specifically what work will be done, and the price of the work. Now is the time to make sure everything you want is in writing. If something is not specific or understandable, make sure you communicate this to your contractor, and he or she makes it clear in WRITING!
