I echo what all the other positive reviews have said and then some about Hughes Kitchens and Bath. I am so glad we went with Hughes. We knew when we met Mike Pierce that Hughes was the best choice for us. Mike was fantastic in every aspect. He guided us through the process from beginning to end seamlessly. He was more than helpful (and patient!) with us choosing/changing our plans and selections. Mike stands by his company and their work. Our job was completed within the time frame Mike gave us. We couldn’t be more pleased!

We had Bernie as our construction “guy” throughout the entire remodel. Bernie is awesome! We looked forward to him coming on a daily basis - not only to complete the job.... He is very personable! Bernie’s quality of work is excellent as you can see in our photos! He is extremely reliable and arrived promptly daily. I was impressed with the amount of construction, how tidy he kept everything each day! I do have to mention how nothing was ever a “problem” with Bernie... anytime I had a concern/question or even a change I was reassured it was no problem!

5+ Stars!

In June of 2018 we started planning our renovations to our kitchen, laundry room and master bath with Tony Pierce of Hughes Kitchen. His professionalism, design abilities and amiable personality made us feel very comfortable. He quoted a 10 week build time. They started on January 22, 2019. We were fortunate enough to go to Florida for 6 weeks during demolition and initial building. All floors were replaced and a kitchen wall was brought down to make a large kitchen/great room. All furniture was sealed in rooms not being renovated and floors and carpeting were covered. The team was very respectful of our property and no damage was ever done. We returned 6 weeks into the build and were able to watch how meticulous and detailed they were. They arrived around 7 AM and worked through lunch until 3:00. We were very impressed with their dedication, work ethic and quality of work. To our team, Tony, Bobby, Kelley, John, Kurt, Alec, Brian and Anthony, thank you for our beautiful home. (Sorry if we missed someone) The work was completed 2 days short of our quoted 10 weeks. We highly recommend Hughes Kitchen and Bath.

A new white kitchen in Solon, Ohio! We recently had our 26-year-old kitchen cabinets refaced by Hughes Kitchen and Baths out of Canton, Ohio. From start to finish, we have been so impressed by the professionalism, courtesy and quality of results with our kitchen project by Hughes. The owner, Mike, was very pleasant to deal with and explained the process very well. He provided an estimate very quickly! After receiving estimates and sales visits from 4 other local cabinet companies, it was an easy choice for us to give our business to Hughes. We scheduled the work to be done after the holiday season, which they accommodated. The project time at our house was 9 days. Our Hughes installer, Curt, was the best! He was super prompt on his starting time all 9 days. His work, craftsmanship, friendliness and meticulous detail was incredible! Curt asked for feedback along the way regarding cabinet hardware placement and also kept us well informed of progress and next steps so there were no surprises.
Overall, we are extremely pleased with our NEW kitchen cabinet look in a white, Shaker style. We highly recommend Hughes Kitchen and Baths and have now decided that we would like them to also propose a master bath upgrade in our house!

My designer, Tony, promised that my bath remodel would be easy and stress free and, wow, did he deliver! They were able to accommodate my schedule and got the job completed in the time that was estimated. My installer, Bob, has a very strong work ethic, is extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. I will for sure hire Hughes again and I will for sure request Bob! Thank you Hughes Kitchens and Baths!

We had our kitchen remodeled by Hughes and we couldn't be happier with the results. Mike and Nate were great to work with and the price was very reasonable. We would recommend them to anyone.

We recently had our kitchen and den remodeled and Hughes did a wonderful job. Mike was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and detail oriented throughout the projects. Kelly and Jeff did a phenomenal job installing the new cabinets and bookcases and painting everything in sight, and they ensured that everything was done right so that it will last. Brian built beautiful custom bookcases and cabinets to match the original wood paneling and cabinetry; so well in fact, that a friend came over and couldn't tell that the bookcases weren't original!

Hughes Kitchen & Bath completed a remodel of our kitchen, and we were very pleased with the entire experience and the final product. Mike Pierce's design was outstanding. His guidance made our decisions with door styles, tile, colors, and many others a pleasant experience. Big thanks to Bob Boatright who did a majority of the work at our home. He is a highly skilled craftsman, and his work definitely exceeded my expectations. It was a pleasure having Bob in our home. I would highly recommend Hughes Kitchen and Bath for any remodel project. We will definitely be calling them again.

Pleased with the craftsmanship of Bob. Great work, always used his time wisely.
Less impressed with Tony as he seemed to only provide minimum service and made the customization process difficult while not being very easy to work with.

From the moment we walked into Hughes Kitchens, to the completion of our remodeled kitchen, I have never felt so "at ease" with the professionalism of Michael Pierce and his staff. Mike took the time to suggest ideas, design, and modify till my wife and I were satisfied with how things were to look. Once started, John, who was at our home through the entire process, built us a kitchen that I couldn't be more satisfied with, or proud of. I highly recommend Hughes Kitchens for your remodeling needs.

I would STRONGLY DISCOURAGE anyone from choosing Hughes for a remodeling project.

The company was established in 1948 and had no complaints with the BBB until after it was sold to the current owner in 2004.

It will be too hard to relay the full scope of just how awful our experience was with Hughes, but I will provide a few of the details.

We had our kitchen, laundry, 1/2 bath and wet bar remodeled with them this past year. We were told that our project would take about 5-7 weeks. Work was started in our home September 29, 2013 and we finally received the last item for completion nearly 14 months later! We had a carpenter in our home five days a week for nearly 5 months. All four of the rooms were measured incorrectly. Two pullout cabinets that were supposed to be in the kitchen didn’t fit and had to be returned. The carpenter had to cut out part of the molding around our bathroom door so the counter top would fit on the vanity that was measured too big. The cabinet in the laundry room that was also measured too big and was delivered to my home SIX times before it was finally right. They had to drywall over part of a glass block window in our basement to create more “wall” for the wet bar cabinet that was measured and ordered too large for the space. This is a very small part of a very long list of things that were done incorrectly.

We paid a 30% ($12,858) down payment nearly 6 months before our project began. We then paid another 30% (12,333) on the day the remodel finally began. Yet, at the start of the job, the company had not purchased anything other than cabinets for the project. No fixtures, no trim, no paint, no faucets, no sinks, no counters, no hardware, no tile, no windows, no backsplash, etc, etc. The the project was repeatedly stalled while we waited for items to be ordered. I believe Hughes is so financially troubled that they are resorting to pyramid schemes, using down payments from upcoming jobs to pay for current or prior jobs. Like all such pyramid schemes, it will eventually come crashing down.

Hughes’ website states that they do not use subcontractors. In February of 2014, before our remodel was completed, we were threatened with a lien on our home from Shand enterprises, the subcontractor that Hughes used for our counters. We paid Hughes $12,334 (our third 30% payment,) the very day that the counters were installed back in November of 2013 but Hughes never paid the $5,182 that they owed the subcontractor for the counters. In order to avoid a lien on our home, we had to directly pay the subcontractor $3,727 of the final $5,227 payment we had for Hughes.

Finally, I would like to point out that the owner (president) and his son (the manager) both claim to be designers. Neither has any education in design. The son has a bachelor’s degree in business administration/management, and the owner (father) worked for a cabinet maker while he was in his 20’s. He then worked in sales at Nickles bakery until he purchased Hughes in 2004.

I hope this review saves someone from making the same mistake we did when we chose to hire Hughes Kitchens and Bath.

We had major cabinet remodeling done in our kitchen, and a new high end master shower installed, and updated vanity. Harry was the remodeler who did virtually all of the work, from refacing our cabinets to tile/granite installation in the master bath. He did an outstanding job and was very, very detail oriented. Both projects were pricey, but we feel we received outstanding service and quality for a fair price. Mike Pierce, the owner, was fantastic to work with and was instrumental in helping us make decisions about cabinets, fixtures, tile and so on. We would highly recommend them. February 2016

We hired Hughes Kitchens and Bath to replace a fiberglass shower with a tiled shower. They were able to locate tile that we already had in the bathroom and we were very glad about that.

The installer removed the old shower stall and began the process of preparing for the placement of the tile. Some plumbing work was done. Dry wall was replaced. The floor and walls were covered with a special water proof material to ensure that no leaks would occur. The floor and walls were tiled to perfection. The shower is beautiful. Instead of a shower door, we asked for a glass block front with an opening. They accommodated our request and the final product is just what we wanted. The installer kept us informed each day of the progress of the project. He was always respectful and very pleasant and friendly. He cleaned the work area each day. We enjoyed having him work for us.

I highly recommend Hughes Kitchens and Bath.

Hughes kitchens did two separate projects for us and we weren't 100% satisfied with both. The first project was a upgrade to our kitchen and the second project was the creation of a first floor laundry room. They completed both projects within the given timeframe and within the project quote they had given to us.we will certainly use them again if we do any additional renovations or upgrades to our current home.
