My family rescued our dog from N.C. and were looking for a place to have our dog get exercise and to be around other dogs. We toured the facility and were impressed with what we saw and with what we were told. We started bringing her there and everything was going fine at first. After the first couple of visits we decided to purchase a punch card that enabled us several visits and lowered the cost. After a routine visit on a Friday night, we picked her up at the end of the day. After getting her home and getting her out of our vehicle, we notice that her paw was bleeding and she had a huge laceration on it. We were shocked and confused as to why no one mentioned the injury. We then proceeded to the emergency vet and she had to have stitches and her paw wrapped. I took pictures of the injury and called that Monday and asked to have a meeting with the owner. I went in and showed her the pictures and told her about the incident. She didn't apologize, only said that her son who used to be an EMT looked at the dogs paw and thought that it would be fine. I then expressed that in the future I would like to be notified of any injuries prior to pickup and at the minimum at pick up time. I was shocked of the lack of concern and empathy. Hesitantly, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and brought her back. Shortly after my dog came home acting dazed, eyes dialated and the vet thought that the dog had sustained a head injury. How this happened is beyond me. No more chances here. I did not bring her back and left an unused punch card there. I would never bring any animal there, or refer anyone to go to this facility. In talking with others I have found other dog owners that their dogs also had unreported injuries. Please be aware. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Bottom line is if you complain the owners will tell you after they take your money. We aren't making money ! Would that answer be okay from your day care, your mom's nursing home or your health care provider, STAY AWAY I'm also sharing this on my face book page

Awful place! I ask future customers to reconsider bringing their pets there.

Brought our 5 month old GSD puppy for day camp. Definitely should have sued or reported them to the Am Association of Vet State Boards, for multiple dog bites that my puppy endured. The most serious injury is severe and permanent. When we got home, and he was drinking water right away, I saw almost 1 inch split in his tongue, not a bite, a full on split. I can imagine how much that bled AND the they DID NOT NOTIFY me when this happened. They said he was playing chase with another 6 yr old dog ( i don't understand why they would put those two, 6 mos and 6 yr together) and my dogtripped and bit his tongue. That may be believable, UNTIL the vet also noted and charted PUNCTURE wounds on his face. I understand that things happen when dogs play, BUT they lied about what had happened, or simply didn't see themselves because they were not doing their job of watching the dogs when they are out.

my rescue malamute goes to brookwood for doggy daycare once a week just to work on her socializing and getting some exercise. Brookwood is her first doggy daycare facility since none others in the area would even consider her due to her rescue status, age and size. Art, the owner of brookwood had no concerns and was so accommodating, I really can't put it all into words.

He made sure to meet my mal and let all the staff play with her one on one so she got used to everyone and the surroundings, then slowly integrated her into the normally doggy daycare routine and normal doggy daycare area.

I can't say enough how grateful I am they were willing to work with my very pig headed mal and welcome her with open arms as they have.

Highly recommended.

After much investigation and t...

After much investigation and thought, we decided that our dog (an English Bulldog) would have his first boarding experience at Brookwood.

We made an unscheduled visit to the facility where we were met by one of the owners, Art. He was very lovely and showed us around the facility. It looked amazing, very clean and well kept. We had no hesitation leaving our little guy there.

Brookwood cost twice as much as any of the other kennels we looked at ($300 for the week including VIP package and bath), but we were ok spending it because we felt we were leaving him in good hands.

We dropped him off on Saturday. On Tuesday we called to check in. Art said he was doing great and we had nothing to worry about. And then we picked him up on Saturday...

We were informed by the 3 teenagers working the desk that he had an injury to his neck. They thought that his collar had started to grow in. (Now this is pretty gross, but anyone who knows anything about this knows it takes a bit of time... we had taken him to the vet just previous to his "trip" as well as taken off his collar the day before we dropped him off to put on his brand new, shiny dog license.) I told them that that really wasn't possible.

They said that the groomer found the injury when she was washing him and that it had been "really gross." She had to shave his neck and remove the collar due to excess puss build up. (The collar stunk so bad I had to throw it out. And this was a standard collar that was encased in a safety plastic!)

When I asked what had caused this they said, "I don't know. The weather, maybe." It had rained 4 of the days we were gone, but 1. this was the same collar he has had for 6 years and 2. he was to be (according to the package we paid for) kept in a "climate controlled" room of individual dog pods.

I called back the next morning (Sunday) hoping to talk to someone who knew more. One of the girls from the day prior answered and said there was no one else for me to talk with and that I would have to call back the next day. I did.

I spoke with Carol (the other owner). She said she didn't really know what to tell me. Either he slept on it funny, had an allergic reaction to the collar or it was the weather. She put me on the phone with the groomer.

The groomer told me that either it was an allergic reaction, the weather or he was just too overweight for the collar (because of his breed the collar is really just for show and to hold his license. We intentionally keep it very loose so as to not restrict his airway.) The groomer then said, "there is no need to over react."

So this is a lot of words, but in summary:

1. I paid them $300 to give my dog the VIP treatment and he was hurt on their watch

2. No one who works at the facility was paying close enough attention to tell me what happened

3. They had HORRIBLE customer service and were totally dismissive of my questions and concerns.

I will NEVER use this facility again.

Our mission at Brookwood Pet Resort is to provide each dog in our care with a safe, happy, positive experience. To that end we take suggestions, ideas, comments and reviews very seriously. We build upon the positives and do our best to adjust and change where we can do better. As Kelly says, “It looked amazing, very clean and well kept.” We have two boarding programs at Brookwood. The first is our VIP (very important pooch) program and includes usually six supervised turnouts per day, goodnight treats and lots of attention. Cots are standard and all dogs get 24 hour access to water. Food is included but we are glad to feed dogs their special diets when provided. Our VIP Deluxe program includes all the amenities of the VIP program and adds a private playtime (we can throw a ball, play Frisbee, take your dog for a walk or just cuddle) and a special daytime treat which is usually an all-natural yogurt. Kelly chose the VIP Deluxe program for Louie and added a grooming to the end of his stay. Her bill for 8 days (7 nights) came to $256.50. The bill would have been $70 less for the standard VIP program. We don’t know of any boarding kennels in the area that could have provided these services for half as much. Louie came in wearing a walking harness. Although we removed it when he was relaxing in his kennel, we always put it back on to take Louie for his Deluxe walks each day. We never had occasion to use his collar or adjust it in any way. On his last day our groomer who has been with us over 7 years now was preparing Louie for his bath. Louie was a wonderful dog but he was extremely over weight, so much so that the folds of fat in his neck covered his collar. Our groomer pointed out that his neck was irritated and that the collar underneath was extremely tight. Kelly herself says, “we had … taken off his collar the day before we dropped him off to put on his brand new, shiny dog license” so we can only assume she had been the last to adjust it. We treated the area with antibiotic ointment and left the collar off but since it was Louie’s last day we thought it best to let Kelly decide how she wanted to treat the affected area and called it to her attention. Our groomer will often find a hot spot, flea dirt, cyst, rash or irritation when grooming a dog and we consider it good manners to call them to the owner’s attention. Almost always the owner will thank us for noticing the condition and telling them about it so Kelly’s reaction took us by surprise. She demanded we explain how we had harmed her dog and no other explanation would seem to satisfy her. Sometimes there just isn’t anyone to blame. We encourage anyone looking for a quality, responsible facility to care for their dog to search online for our reviews. They are available at several objective websites. Several customers have also posted reviews on our Facebook page. Just search for Brookwood Pet Resort or Brookwood Agility. Respectfully submitted, Art Landry

Went above and beyond! AMAZING service and animal lovers too!‎

I had to find a boarding kennel for my shepherd on very late notice (July 4th weekend). Brookwood Pet Resort took my reservation the morning I dropped her off. They were friendly and accommodating. Surprisingly when I arrived at the front desk my dog bumped up against me and I realized she had been quilled (by a porcupine) under her chin. This was not the first time she had been quilled and I had my family in the car waiting for me to travel out of state. The owners (I believe) were quick to help set up an appointment for me to get her into their local vet and even picked her up after the quill removal. They provided amazing customer service and truly went above and beyond what I expected. They seem to enjoy what they do and love animals. Their prices are reasonable too! I am so impressed and will go out of my way to tell people to use Brookwood Pet Resort!!
