The Emergency Management Division is a part of the Washington Military Department, which is governed by the State of Washington. The division offers emergency preparedness programs for various natural calamities, such as floods, storms, wildland fires, earthquakes and volcanoes. It provides management solutions for dam failures, hazardous material spills and nuclear power plant incidents. The Emergency Management Division additionally assists cities, counties, tribal entities and state agencies to design, conduct and evaluate emergency management exercises for a variety of hazards. The division organizes statewide emergency response training, exercise and planning workshops. It offers on call assistance with life-threatening emergencies.
