Hospital Central Services was founded in 1968 by a group of prominent Lehigh Valley, Pa., business and civic leaders. The group determined that a shared laundry service would benefit the residents of the surrounding areas by eliminating duplication of costs and services. The area's first centralized health care laundry facility opened in 1970, which served 10 area hospitals. Its membership base includes more than 450 health care facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. The members use many of the programs and services offered through the company s laundry and linen services, group purchasing and blood banking divisions. Hospital Central Services has a location in Camden, N.J.
