The Ventura County Medical Association ( VCMA ), established in 1895, is a professional association of physicians throughout Ventura County who are dedicated to addressing local health issues of concern to their patients and their profession. We are a subsidiary of the California Medical Association ( CMA ) and are affiliated with the American Medical Association ( AMA ). VCMA and its physician leadership have always been an integral part of the formation of medical care in Ventura County. Cephas Bard, MD the founding President of the VCMA also established the Bard Memorial Hospital, the forerunner of the current Ventura County Medical Center. John O. Jones, MD was the founder of the Simi Valley Community Hospital. Charles Hair, MD lead in the formation of the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Association, serving the needs of Ventura County residents in need of Home Health Care. The staff at VCMA is committed to assisting physicians in every aspect of their practices, from ironing out the complicated practice management issues that arise on a daily basis to providing legislative advocacy at the local, state and national levels. For a complete listing of the services we provide for our physician members, please visit our Membership Benefits section. VCMA pledges to be advocates for patients, physicians and high quality medical care.
