I recently adopted a dog from this shelter and was really impressed. The dog I adopted was obviously well cared for. They gave much critical care medical attention to help this stray who came to them with Parvo. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful. These folks have a lot of responsibility and not a large staff. They get a thumbs up for their compassion and dedication to animals!

I worked there for only one day and the managers were gossiping behind my back. It’s a very hostile work environment with tons of drama. The directors and managers all talk crap about the care attendants.

Witnessed some inappropriate behavior when visiting here the other day with the front end. Staff should learn to be more professional.

YIKES! this place is bad news.. starting with the staff and ending with the overall environment. If your beloved animal gets taken here, be ready to pay up and go around and around with the staff to get your rights back of the animal.

If I could give this place NEGATIVE stars I would!!! I have NEVER been mistreated in all my life by anywhere like I was today by WVHS. My moms dog got out while we were watching her and was unfortunately taken to this place.. I waited for them to open so I could get her back. They hadn’t even put her in an assigned kennel before I spotted her and pointed her out. In other words, claimed her. I had all the proof they needed that she belonged to our family and they made us go round and round to release her to us. My husband waited out in the car with our kids including my 4 month old baby for 2 hours!!! After getting all the information they asked they wound up charging us TWICE the amount that was quoted to me originally. I paid $100 to get my moms dog out that was only in there from 7pm the night before. $100!!!!! I was quoted $50 which was still absurd considering she was only in there for 16 hours!!!!! Most of which were unsupervised... they didn’t like how I was defending myself to their downgrading ways so they literally ignored me! Wouldn’t accept my payment.. walked away from me three different times! My infant son needs me to feed him and was screaming in the car with my husband waiting for his Mommy to come back to feed him. This place is dirty and is out for $$$ I hope your fur baby never has to spend even a night here!

I have had nothing but good experiences with this shelter. They keep the animals in clean humane conditions. Their adoption prices are reasonable and they have a great foster program for cats. Come help. We have adopted 2 dogs and 2 cats from this place and foster 4 litters of kittens.
