If your loved one is awake & eating solid foods, perhaps they are not ready for this facility, and perhaps they are. They offer a bed for you & kitchen area, so if you can stay, don't leave your loved one alone, as their time is very near. To be sure your loved one is ready, prepare a list of medications & ask them to circle the ones they will be permitted to take. Ask about nourishment, ask to see the patient kitchen food area & what food and water will be available and who assists them in eating. Ask if wheelchairs are available and will you be permitted to get your loved one out of bed to see the lovely piano or fireplace areas. Ask if possible to have their chart marked that you be notified prior to morphine or ativan being administered. Get peace of mind for you and your family that your loved one is ready for this type of facility and services offered and that the family is ready to have them there.
