Shihan A. Fredericks owns and operates A-1 Karate Do LLC. Shihan A. Fredericks has been training for over 35 year. She began her training at the World Seido Karate Organization Honbu [headquarters] NYC in April of 1980 at the age of 30. She trained directly under Kaicho [Founder] Tadashi Nakamura starting in June, 1983 at 4th Kyu, Green Belt. She became an assistant instructor at Seido Honbu in 1988, assisting at Friday morning kata [forms] class. She attained the rank of Shodan 1st degree black belt from Seido on March 20, 1988. Sensei Fredericks established her own school, Seido Long Island, at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Roosevelt NY in August of 1990. She attained the rank of Nidan on December 9th 1990. She became an instructor at Honbu February 22, 1992, teaching the Friday morning kata class. She then taught and trained at the Women’s Center Karate Club with Denise Williams, Sensei, JKA Shotokan from June 1995 - September 1997. She is a member National Women’s Martial Arts Federation. She recently started her own business A-1 Karate Do LLC. She has a community program in Pocono Mountain Lake Estates in Bushkill and is opening a dojo in East Stroudsburg at the Pocono LGBT Community as soon as a location can be established.
