Buffalo Grove Park District is accredited by the Joint Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency Committee, Illinois Park and Recreation Association and Illinois Association of Park Districts. The district was organized in 1969 as a special purpose unit of the government as provided by the Illinois Park District Code. It maintains more than 50 park sites totaling over 400-acres of land, offering a range of facilities, including the Raupp Memorial Museum, Alcott Community Center, Emmerich park recreation building and maintenance facility. It also offers an indoor golf learning center, Aquadome indoor pool and Willow Stream outdoor pool. Its programs and services include before and after school care programs, summer day camps, preschools, athletic programs such as soccer, basketball and softball, swimming programs, senior activities and trips and special interest classes for youth and adults. The park district, based in Buffalo Grove, Ill., is affiliated with National Parks and Recreation Association, Suburban Parks and Recreation Association and Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce.
