Last week I changed my office and moved the office in a new location. It was quite a big task to accomplish considering the volume of goods and the type of the move. Their movers came on time and they were ready to take the task. Movers were organized. They began the packing and remained focused till the move was completed. I checked the inventory by myself and surprisingly did not get any reason to worry. It was a flawless performance, which came at a very reasonable price.

I am always a very lazy person. That is why I decided to hire professional movers for my move, which took place just yesterday. I searched the net, called several movers and finally hired Xpress moving van lines because I got the best deal from their sales guy Rony. However, they were assigned to pack, move and store all my belongings. I did not even bother to monitor what was going on during the move. But surprisingly nothing was missing or damaged or broken. When I saw the inventory I was just amazed. It was a 100% successful move and also cost me less than the initial quote! I am sure that this is one of the best companies in business. When I came upon Xpress Moving Vanlines, I was excited. I booked a move with ease with the salesman Rony. When the day of my move actually came, I have to say, I've never been so mistreated.



I was given a 1-2pm window for my movers to arrive. 1:58, and not so much as a whisper. After 2pm, I called to find out where my team was. I was told they were a half hour away. Okay, the earlier move ran late. Half hour came and went, and I called again. This time, 15 minutes. Again, no word. This proceeded until 4pm, regardless of the fact that I had warned that I was going to be subject to fines from my building for a late move.



When the movers finally showed, they walked in the door defensive and belligerent. They complained that the people before had extra stuff, and tried to prove it with their sweaty shirts. This still didn't explain why I never got a phone call to give me a heads up. My husband and I both missed a day of work.



Then, the movers really started to be difficult. They obviously were treating me in a sexist manner, ignoring me and talking directly to my husband. They said that our stuff wouldn't fit on their truck because they had another person's load of stuff. And that they didn't expect any boxes, because they weren't on the list. I had talked to Rony about boxes. I also told someone at the company when I phoned to let you know I was having difficulty with my movers that I had boxes and he said "of course you do."



Why would you plan to move someone from a 2 bedroom apartment in NYC and not anticipate that they have any boxes? Do people only move furniture?



I wasn't paying on volume, I was paying an hourly rate, this shouldn't have been an issue. But because their truck was half full of the previous move (which was long distance to Florida), the foreman (Mike) of the crew rudely decided to just cancel my move. He said he didn't have to give me any better justification than that.



The company representatives were no help either. They claimed that they contacted their sister company, and asked if there was someone who could move us. But no. There was "nothing else they could do."



How was I supposed to feel. I was left completely helpless at 5pm with no movers, and this was the only day I could do this move. Xpress' response was to give me my $50 deposit back, and leave. What kind of customer experience is that? Not a good one.
