P.S. 161, a kindergarten through five elementary school and the Crown School for Law and Journalism is a grade six through eight middle school. It is located in Brooklyn, N.Y., and students receive instruction in all curricula mandated for middle schools. In addition to courses in law and journalism, it offers advanced courses in mathematics and science. Its science courses are taught by college professors at a local college and students get the opportunity to take high school regents examinations in living environment. As part of the journalism program, students write articles, publish newspapers, participate in authors' studies and learn word processing skills. In addition, the Crown School for Law and Journalism s law track students role play supreme court hearings, congressional floor debates and sessions advising the president on domestic issues.
