I'm an Asian girl who wanted a Hasidic hat. I went with my friend (also Asian) to get one. At first the store owner was scared of us. But after they found out we came with no harm and weren't buying hats for a production of Fiddler on the Roof, they weren't scared anymore. They let us try on all sorts of hats in different sizes and different styles. There aren't that many styles, but it was still good. I found a hat I loved and it cost $165. My friend's head is kinda big, so it was hard for her to find a hat to fit her. The store owner helped her find one that finally fit her, but it needed to be special ordered.

The store owner also gave me tips on how to keep the hat in good condition after. He even gave me a hat rain protector and told me I could come by anytime and he would clean it for free!
