Excellence! Old runs like New!

So of course my 120,000 mile, 15 year old (2001) JEEP broke down and my mechanic that I've been using for almost 20 years told me the tranny blew and it'd cost about 4 grand for it to be fixed. With that news, I was better off just to sell the car. The next day at work I had to drive my wife's Solara in to work (my job requires my truck for tools etc..) so you could imagine how all my buddies at work looked at me when I pulled up. During lunch, I was overheard by a coworker arguing with my mechanic over the phone. When I hung up, she walked over to me and handed me a business card for Bay Ridge Transmissions. She told me how well she was treated there and how hands on and knowledgeable the owner Rick is. I figured it couldn't hurt so I gave him a call. He answered the phone with a pleasent BayRidge Transmissions. I told him the story and how I was told it would cost an arm and a leg to fix. He told me I could bring the car down for a FREE computer diagnostic and will check it out and give me an estimate. Of course the car was not driveable so once I told him that , he offered to have the car towed to his shop. I was uneasy in moving forward but, with my coworkers push, I felt I should try it out. I met him once I got off work and to my surprise my car was there already and the diagnostic had been complete / his men had checked it out. With my stomach churning I asked if he'd come up with an estimate. He looked me dead in the eye and said 4000...I went white. That was the same price my mechanic gave me! Then as quick as he said that he gave a little smile and said only kidding in which I gave out a chuckle and a sigh of relief. He told me it'd only run about 2230 which is almost half of what I was going to be charged by the guy I was with for over 20 years !. I gave him the go ahead, and gave him a downpayment . A couple of days later I recieve a call my cars ready and to come pick it up. When I arrive and give Rick the rest of the payment for the 2230, he counted it out and handed me back 500! I could not believe it. He could have easily kept it and ripped me off but instead he was a true honest professional mechanic and told me it cost less than he thought. He gave a 1 year / 100k warranty for me (my old mechanic only gave 6 month) I have 6 months left of my warranty and since I have gotten the car back it has never ran better! Thank you Rick and thank you Bay Ridge Transmissions ! Forever thankful and will be my go to spot / refer to guy!
