The Brookings Police Department is comprised of more than 20 full- and part-time officers. It operates patrol, communication and K-9 divisions. The department also has a detective division that investigates major crimes, including homicide, sexual assault and abuse, robbery, and possession and trafficking of drugs. In addition, the Brookings Police Department has a dispatch center that responds to police, fire and medical emergency services. It provides community policing services to the public, such as vacation checks, school zone crossing monitoring, crime scene security, traffic control and park patrol. The department works with various organizations to provide community-oriented policing services. The Brookings Police Department supports the Crime Stoppers program that assists in the identification of criminals. It is located in Brookings, Ore.
