Galina Leyvi, MD, MS, is an attending anesthesiologist and Professor, Anesthesiology at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Leyvi?s clinical focus is on cardiac anesthesia.In 1987, Dr. Leyvi completed her combined undergraduate and medical school education at St. Petersburg Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia. She completed an internship in ear, nose and throat at the regional outpatient department in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1988. She later came to the United States to continue her postdoctoral training, completing an internship in internal medicine in 1994 at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Bronx. In 1997 she completed a three-year anesthesiology residency at Westchester County Medical Center. Following this, she completed a yearlong cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In 2013, Dr. Leyvi completed her Master of Science in clinical research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.Dr. Leyvi?s research focus is on cardiac research and statistics. She has shared her research through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, review articles, abstracts and poster presentations as well as international, national and regional presentations. She reviews for many journals and has extensive editorial experience, having been on the boards of several journals including the International Journal of Anesthesiology and Clinical Research, the Journal of Anesthesiology and Research and the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery.Dr. Leyvi is board certified and is a member of several professional societies including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society and the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.
