Dr. Sable was born in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and was elected to Tau Beta Phi and Eta Kappa Nu for his academic excellence. He attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. He went on to receive his training in Gastroenterology at the New York Medical College which he completed in 1978. He then began his practice in gastroenterology and along with Dr. Isadore Gutwein founded Riverdale Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases in 1981. Dr. Sable is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the subspecialty Boards of Gastroenterology and Geriatrics. He is the author of several publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Sable is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Physicians, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Medical Society of the State of NY and the Bronx County Medical Society. Dr. Sable has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.), a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (F.A.C.G.) and a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (A.G.A.F.). Dr. Sable is on the staff of Montefiore Medical Center, St. Barnabas Hospital, the Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry and Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center. He served as the Medical Staff President of St. Barnabas Hospital from 1982-1986 and is currently the Medical Staff President of Montefiore Medical Center (2005-2008). He is also the co-medical director of the Advanced Endoscopy Center.
