Misdiagnosed told I needed a $3000 repair. Took to another mechanic fixed issue for $100.

My van broke down years ago during a camping trip through Michigan. It was around 1am and I pulled into a gas station. the garage owner's son just happened to be there and arranged for a tow. They said they would have the van ready to go by morning. They even gave us a lift to a nearby hotel (after I declined a gracious offer to set up my tent in their auto yard). very caring, exceptional people.

I trusted those guys with my vehicle and they overcharged me for a used transmission. After I picked up the vehicle, I was only able to drive it for ten miles before it broke down on the way back home (it started acting the same way it was when I gave it to them). I called them and they sent a towing truck. I waited for a week and they never called me back. The owner of the place started not taking my phone calls and the employees kept telling me he's not in the shop. I told them I am sending a towing truck to pick up the vehicle somewhere else, then the owner decided to call me. He said the problem is in the engine this time. I said I am going to take it to another place and he said he wants $175.00 for a 10 mile tow (from his shop to the place where the car stopped working). Eventually I took the vehicle to to another place (60+ miles away and the cost of the tow was $165.00) and at least four people looked at it and told me the transmission was NEVER replaced. I called the owner and he started cursing on the phone...
