On May 19, 2015 Dependable Field Services (DFS In-Home Services or DFS), a company located in Carmel, NY, prepared a Home Improvement Agreement (Agreement) to perform work for us at Colonial Road in White Plains. The Agreement required a $4,250 deposit, which we paid to DFS on May 22, 2015, to build bluestone front stairs, a bluestone walk way, and a bluestone patio at our new home.

I cannot even count how many times the work has been scheduled with Roman Abrue, the Owner, and then no one ever shows up. His dozens of empty promises to have the work performed have been broken over and over again. Finally in early July concrete was poured, but yet again after many promises to return and install the bluestone no further work has been performed.

The workmanship of the concrete was horrific! Inexperienced laborers arrived and our foreman had to instruct them every step of the way, i.e., they did not know that in New York footings are required to be 42” below grade in order to pour concrete. Our new home was not protected and concrete splattered all over and dried so now it’s impossible to remove. They did not clean up after themselves and left our site a filthy mess.

Not once has he met the terms of the detailed 9 page Agreement. Page after page of deadlines never met, empty promises – it is an extensive document falsifying the true function ability of the company.

Roman has a voicemail box that is not set up to receive messages; several visits to his “office” location prove fruitless because no one is employed there, not even a secretary to take a message; although the website paints a picture of a prosperous company that employs many people, that is all smoke and mirrors – he is not running a competent business and rather than having employees he merely hires subcontractors to perform the work, or rather they attempt to perform the work. And clearly he is robbing Peter to pay Paul as the funds we gave him have not been used to purchase materials necessary for our job.

We have had a terribly disappointing experience with DFS and hope that others can learn for our mistake. We would either like the work to be completed or our deposit returned.
