It was my daughters 21st birthday and we asked where she would like to have a birthday dinner and she decided on Ryuu Japanese Steakhouse. We made a reservation for 30 people at 7:00 on 4/15/2014 and knew there would probably a split since they have a limited number of seats around the hibachi grills. They called that afternoon to make sure we were still on for the dinner that night and we let them know that everything was on. We asked if we needed to bring a small cake for the birthday girl and they told us No that they had everything ready and a small cake for her.

Well we arrived at 6:50 to make sure everything was in place and the hostess told us that it would be about 10 minutes before the tables were all setup which was not a problem. Most of the people that were attending came right from work and were ready to get the party started.

At 7:50 we had just about had enough and ask for a manager since we had been sitting (all 26 of us ) at the bar for almost an hour. And finally they started to seat us. They had to split us in to two groups 20 at two grills and 6 at another, and come to find out that they only scheduled 2 hibachi chefs that night. So what happened is the table of 6 was done eating before they even started cooking for the rest of the group and they had to just sit around waiting. As the meal went on some were going to the bar to get their own drinks because of the lack of service.

The only bright side of the dinner was the hibachi chefs they had their act together and were very good.

To make a frustrating story short, even after making a reservation! …they were unprepared… understaffed… and undermanaged… And to beat it all there was no cake and no acknowledgement to her on her special day. If you are planning a big day I would suggest going somewhere else.

At first the bar attracted me and my husband in but its the sushi & hibachi that will have us coming back! Not only do they have 2 for 1s all day every day, but they have delicious food, charming bartenders and servers, not to mention the classy and modern motif... we found our new favorite Friday night spot! 2 thumbs up!

Great reastaurant! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the light over the bar! The food was awesome and the chef was very funny and entertaining especially for my children. I highly suggest a visit! Also if you love sushi... ask for Sang he makes the best! We also met the owner Robert and he talked with us and shared about the building of the restaurant and that he actually designed and made the light over the bar himself as well as the design of the restaurant. Kudos! We will definately be back! They get our vote! The number is wrong and is actually four three eight five nine three four (they wont let me type numbers on here)
