The NationalCommission for Cooperative Education (NCCE) is dedicated to advancing cooperative education throughout the United States. Since 1962, the Commission and its college and business partners have supported the development of quality work-integrated learning programs through: National Advocacy, Executive Outreach, Public Awareness, Students & Parent Response Center, Research & Education. The NCCE Board of Trustees is composed of college presidents, industry executives and representatives from government, labor and national organizations. We also have a list of NCCE Co-op Sponsor Corporations & Organizations, highlighting key national employers of co-op students and other supporting organizations. The Commission advances cooperative education through corporate and university-sponsored research projects. These projects focus on cooperative education benefits, industry productivity, learning outcomes, and quality benchmarking studies. The National Commission has served colleges and businesses through the following research projects: Corporate Research Project with human resource executives focusing on quality and learning outcomes, Research Study of College Partner Co-op Programs focusing on integrated learning profiles, Impact Research Study measuring outcomes of the Student and Parent, Public Awareness Campaign Annual Corporate Symposium presenting sessions on cooperative education and today's workforce The National Commission advances cooperative education through educational forums, and conferences addressing the needs of industry and university executives. NCCE has offered an Executive Forum for Higher Education and Business Leaders: Partners in Integrating Learning and Work for 21st Century Graduates. The National Commission has served its college and business partners through the following educational programs: Prepare and disseminate a Recommendations Report from the Executive Forum for Higher Education and Business Leaders Collaboration with the American School Guidance Counselor Association Co-sponsor the New England Regional Symposium on Competency-Based Admissions National Advocacy NCCE advances cooperative education through its federal government outreach focusing on legislative and policy support for co-op and linkages to other appropriate education and workforce development initiatives. NCCE's advocacy focuses on the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act as well as higher education's role in the School-to-Career movement. The National Commission serves colleges and businesses through the following advocacy initiatives: State outreach and advocacy strategies Partnerships with education and business organizations to include Co-op in new policy and legislation Advocacy for federally-funded research on cooperative education Employer projects through grant funding from the National School-to-Work Opportunities Office and the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor The Commission advances cooperative education through public awareness campaigns which currently focus on high school students and their parents, as well as guidance counselors. Annual Guide - 2003-2004 Edition - The Best of Co-op: A Guide to the Best Co-op Colleges & Corporations intended for high school students and their parents. This guide is distributed to high schools throughout the United States. Second Annual Scholarship T he National Commission has assisted over 145, 000 students and parents since 1990 distributing cooperative education literature to the thousands of students and parents inquiring each year about cooperative education.
