Marvin was exceptionally knowledgeable and fair. I would highly recommend his business and expertise.

Today I took some jewelry down to Marvin at Gem State for a value assessment. I found Marvin and his wife to be very cordial and customer focused. Marvin is perhaps the most knowledgeable and skilled person in the precious metals business and he delights in sharing his knowledge with you so you have a complete understanding of how he arrives at the numbers. If you have need of a precious metals expert I highly recommend Gem State Gold & Silver! 🇺🇸

No way this place has any other review than 1 star or 0 for that matter. He is the only guy in town with silver and there is a reason. I tried to buy a 10 oz. bar which is typically cheaper than 1 oz. rounds over spot. The market closed at 16.08 which I checked in real time on my phone. He proceeded to tell me i was wrong and it was at 16.25.... Whatever. He tried to sell me a 10 oz bar for 250 dollars because it was from the sunshine mint.....really. Closing at 16.08.... Really???????? I expect a one dollar or dollar fifty even a two dollar mark up...I get it. But he wanted 250 dollars for a 10 oz bar. He proceeded to try to convince me i was ignorant to the market and blah blah blah. Market closed at 16.08 i went down the street and bought a 10 oz bar for 178.90. Same day. What a rip off. You will notice that no one else in town has silver thats because they buy enough to move at present market price. They don't want over stock in case the price drops. Not this yayhoo. He bought to much and acted like a marker speculator now wants his customers to pay an over inflated cost to make up for his dumbass business decisions. Not only did he TRY to rip me off but then wouldn't let me leave until he very slowly like a mental patient started trying to prove to me on the internet that his prices were fair. His door locks you in or out. He has to buzz you in. He also carries a side arm on his hip. The whole experience was unsettling, irritating, and psycho. I will never set foot in that place again. Please save yourself the trouble of trying to buy silver from a guy who bought it at 45 dollars an ounce and tries to share the burden of his financial blunder with you. I mean i couldn't even enjoy the low price of silver from this guy. Oh also he told me silver eagles were 6 dollars above spot when 1 week prior ( down the street of course) i bought them for 3 over spot. Any good reviews this guy has are an attempt by him to write about himself to avoid the truth. Worst psychotic crazy horrible slow painful experience i have EVER had buying precious metals. He talks himself up and competitors down. Well bud your business sucks

I don't know how this place stays in business. Friends and family must have wrote the positive reviews. I had some gold to sell and was given a VERY low offer, then he seemed to get upset and belittled me when I refused. Took it straight over to another gold dealer on state and received wonderful friendly service and 85.00 over the lowball price.

I shopped around and found that Gem State would pay me more than any other of the 5 gold buyers I showed my ring to. The owner and his wife were both friendly and easy to deal with. If anyone wants to know the content of their gold or jewery, stop by and have them test it before selling it. Highly recommended and had a good experience. Thanks!

I will NEVER go back to this business. Very arrogant and insulting. They talk to you like your garbage. Very rude. Cursed at me and called me names as I was walking out the door. I guess you can do that when you're carrying a gun. Avoid this place and try one of the others. I had very good luck with ALL the others in the Boise area.

We felt that we were treated honestly, fairly, and with the utmost respect. They were very kind and educated us on several things regarding the business of precious metals. The absolute worst dealer in Boise---perhaps Idaho. Walking into this shop, the owner held his hand on his gun and looked at me like I was trying to rob the place. Immediately after, a person of darker skin color walked in and was LITERALLY told to leave before he was even able to tell the owners why he was there. After waiting for 15 minutes without any acknowledgement of my existence other than a gun nearly pointed at me, I asked for a couple generic rounds of silver. At this point, Yvonne scoffed and walked away, apparently to check the prices. In the other corner, Marvin made a snide comment to another customer about how people who come in to buy only a couple rounds are stupid. Finally, Yvonne came back and quoted what it would cost... 10% over spot! That's absurd! I have never been to a dealer who charges a percentage over spot, and the practice is simply moneygrubbing. Most dealers charge a variable rate based on the spot of $1-$2 over spot for generic silver rounds, which makes

They beat idaho golds price by 300 dollars and their check didnt bounce like idaho gold and silvers does.Again very happy with Gem state.

Have been here before, but was received very poorly on this occasion! Was told they no longer waste their time with scrap gold and silver. Unless you have a couple of pounds of something, Run to somewhere else!

When I took in some gold and silver to sell, they were fair and honest with me as well as customer friendly. The process that is used is outstanding. I have dealt with Marvin and Yvonne on multiple occasions now over the past couple of years and they are the most knowledgeable bullion dealers in town. They offer fair rates and are very honest in their dealings. I will continue to go to them for both my buying and selling needs. And yes, they are always really busy ... must be that others feel the same way as I do about their quality and trustworthiness. Otherwise I doubt they would stay that busy! :)

I have completed several transactions here nad have always found them to be very honest. They check the weight of everything you buy, without asking, to make sure your not getting something that has been modified. They are usually very busy, so the negative comments about their phone manners are understandable having waited myself up to 45 minutes in line to make a purchase. I just got home from selling gold from the Middle East that I haven't worn in years. Marvin and Yvonne were easy to work with. I hadn't made up my mind if I was going to sell my gold yet but while waiting for my turn I was able to watch two other transactions that put me at ease. After listening to them deal with those customers I felt that this is a great way to sell or buy gold, silver, or coins of value or get it appraised for a small fee. I hope this helps others that might be considering selling or buying.

On Tuesday, the 7th of December at 2:14 pm I called to inquire about the prices for silver. A gentleman answered the phone, I asked what their rate was and he said, "maam, you will just have to come in, I am too busy and cannot answer your question and he hung up on me. I will tell everyone I know, how rude and unprofessional this coin company is and I do tons of networking in the community. They also have no idea how much silver was involved! I will post this on my facebook and linkedin, you can be sure.
