Seen add in paper about how fresh the fish was and the so called awards. So I finally stopped in because I really wanted some good fish and chips. Waited 25 min for my food. When it finally arrived they seemed to have forgotten the fish. It was all greasy batter with thin pieces of fish in the middle and totally over cooked. worst fish and chips I have ever had. Did not even finish the meal. If you fancy fish and chips I really recommend you go somewhere else.

If you want the BEST seafood in Boise this is the place to go. Not many people know about it, but those who do become regulars... like me! Their hot seafood salad is to die for and every time I try something new I'm not disappointed. This place is one of Boise's best kept secrets!!!

This was the second time I have tried Fresh Off the Hook, and the second time I walked away disappointed. I thought they deserved a second chance after my first visit. I realize that everyone can have an off day, but after this visit I have come to the conclusion it is just poor service.



My second visit starts with me paying $18.52 for a plate of Fish & Chips, a bowl of chowder, and an Ice tea and then just gets worse from there. After waiting 15 minutes the waitress brings me my drink. At this point I am still waiting for the clam chowder that was supposed to come before the meal. After another 15 minutes she returns with my chowder and meal and says "They both came up at the same time". I have no problem with them coming out at the same time but as I take my first bite of the now ice cold clam chowder I quickly realize that it has been sitting in the back for some time and just got over looked in their lunch rush.

On a positive note I think the meal would have been good if it had been warm. The portions are just the right size, and the staff is very friendly.

On the down side I think they lose points for the lack of service and the price point of their meals. This being my second visit with the same out come suggests this is more of a pattern with them.

We use to come here all the time, no more. Fish smelled bad, did not taste fresh, and to quote Yogi Berra..."the portions were small" not that I want a lot of bad fish, but, for $15.00 you would expect more than 4 very small pieces of halibut. Like I said, use to come here all the time. Sad to say, no more.
