Founded in 1978, Stepping Stone School is a New Jersey State-approved private, nonprofit and nondiscriminatory institution for children suffering from a variety of behavioral and learning disabilities. The school serves more than 800 students and follows the guidelines of New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS) and complies with The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). Stepping Stone School offers a restorative counseling program for children and families. Stepping Stone School also provides individualized educational programs and health and nutritional counseling services. The school maintains art and technology rooms. It employs a staff of a school nurse, business manager, executive director, counselors and teachers.
