This is a no frills shop. (My kind of place.)

I entered with a friendly attitude and with respect to the experience of the owner, since I myself am a nubbly numismatist. This led to a wealth of details on any coin I showed interest. He provided magnifying lenses to inspect the coins, removed coins from holders to get a better look, and pulled out the books to indicate the basis for his grading when I questioned some markings. When I didn't agree, he dickered with the price since grading has a subjective side to it. He let me take all the time I needed without a sense of pushing me.

I ended up with several coins, a friendly attitude and a dealer I'll see again.

The only reason I did not give this store five stars... they do not accept credit. I can deal with that and understand, but it does invoke a bit of inconvenience if you didn't stop by the bank first.

This Place is Wonderful!!!

I went to D & G in Bloomington IL because I had a 1 oz Gold Eagle coin. The Peoria shops had offered me $910.00 and $933.00 respectively. One shop in particular named Hadley's (with the lowest value) had also been RUDE and offensive to me on the phone, and the Metro Center had been kind, but I had kept checking. I called D & G and was treated very courteously, plus they were pretty cool to talk to! They estimated my coin at $1200.00...QUITE A DIFFERENCE!!! The Metro Center told me to go, run and get it before they changed their minds! :D I did, and that is what they paid me. $1200.00 on the spot, well worth the price of gas and travel , wouldn't you think?

When I asked them why they were so much higher than the others, the woman replied "He's not into as much profit as the rest, he's happy to make a little bit less."

The shop is clean, but not a palace...dude parks his VERY NICE bike in there, in short A GREAT PLACE TO CHAT AND SELL IN THE MARKETPLACE.

I'm impressed, and they are some of the nicest folks you'd want to meet. Bloomington should be proud!
