My Favorite for 25 years

I've been going here since they were located on 5th Avenue. While it's true that the decor is bland, I disagree with others that the food is. One of the things you will notice if you go there is that many, many of us don't even want a menu because we are hooked on a specific entree. The food is good, and you adjust the hotness with the sauce they make fresh. The only negative I can think of is that, as mentioned, you do have to pay for the chips and salsa that is complimentary at most Mexican restaurants. Their prices used to be incredibly cheap, but over the years I'd say it's in line with other area Mexican places. It is out of the way, but well worth the drive. They tend to close, however, on holidays so use caution when going. It's not unusual to go and find them closed so we always call first if in doubt.

Not even close..

Please everyone, don't waste your hard earned money at this way below average establishment. The servers were at best a bunch of run down bar flies and the food didn't come close to anything remotely Mexican. I was raised in a large Mexican community so I have a pretty good idea of whats authentic. A good rule of thumb is to at least be sure the cooks are Mexican. I'm not from Billings or Montana for that matter and I'm still looking for a good Mexican meal after eating at six or so establishments here during the past year. If you can find a place that makes their own tortillas and several different salsas you stand a decent chance of having a good meal. Also it's always good if you can find a family owned (mom & pop) business. Forget the chain stores I've tried them and they don't have a clue. I'm just say'in..

Great Mexican Food

Torres Cafe has been in business many years in Billings, and it still has the same great quality family Mexican food they always have. Very casual atmosphere and delicious menu choices. I recommend the Burrito Special.
