I first experienced urology while rounding with my father as a young boy.I have come from watching him operate to performing robotic surgeries and I enjoy the challenging and stimulating environment that the practice of urology provides. I was born in San Antonio, TX and I grew up in Waynesville in the mountains of North Carolina. As a boy I loved dinosaurs, Legos, and playing the piano. I attended Tuscola High School after which I attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for my undergraduate studies (Go Tar Heels!). I graduated in 2007 with a B.S. in biology with highest distinction and minors in chemistry and Spanish. I continued onto medical school as a Sarah Graham Kenan Loyalty Fund full-tuition scholar at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine where I served as class co-president in the Whitehead Medical Society and where I was inducted into the gamma chapter of the Alpha OmegaAlphaHonor Medical Society. I graduated in 2011 with a M.D. with highest distinction. During my surgical internship and urology residencyI received broad and thorough training in general urologic surgery while at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. This included 8 months at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where I learned much about the practice of genitourinary oncology. My interest in minimally-invasive surgical techniques piqued, I continued in my education as the Bard-Bagley Fellow in Endourology and Minimally-invasive Urologic Oncology at the Department of Urology, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA from 2016-2017. During my fellowship I interviewed far and wide for jobs but I felt most at home here at St. Luke's. Ijoined St. Luke's Center for Urology because it combines enthusiastic and talented urologic surgeons with a collegial and welcoming practice environment. My particular interests in urology include the treatment of urologic cancers (kidney, ureters, adrenal, bladder, prostate, testicular, and penile), kidney and ureteral stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), and the placement of penile prostheses. My endourology fellowship training focused on the laparoscopic and robot-assisted management of a range of urologic disorders and I attempt to use this skill set whenever it will provide the best results for my patients. Along with my wife and son, Caroline and Graham, I am excited to put down roots in the Lehigh Valley. We enjoy exploring nearby towns, trying new restaurants, and taking Graham to the park/going for family walks. My hobbies include cooking, homebrewing, working in the yard, listening to music, and weightlifting/fitness. Finally, I love listening to and speaking Spanish. I am accepting new patients and I offer services covering the gamut of adult general urology in addition to the interests listed above (in English and in Spanish). Se acepta nuevos pacientes en mi oficina y se proporciona todos los servicios de urología general adulto y la cirugía robótica/laparoscópica (en inglÉs y español).
