I have purchased Vallos Bakery breads since 1968, and while recently visiting the Bethlehem Area, again visited their bakery at 1800 Broadway, Fountain Hill, PA. (I used to live nearby, while a student at Lehigh University.) I was pleased to purchase a 24 oz loaf of rye bread, and was thrilled that it was not spoiled by a predominant note of caraway. In fact, I do not notice ANY caraway flavor, which is often what unsophisticated people think is the real flavor of rye bread. It is excellent.

I also purchased a large loaf of Vienna bread, which is equally good, chewy, yeasty and yummy. Wonderful when warmed slightly (or even purchased at the bakery late in the afternoon still slightly warm) with butter. It is so good you can make a whole meal of it, and never get tired of it.

Sadly their location is inconvenient when traffic is heavy, and their outdoor sign could use some updating-improvement. But still, go there, or get their products in other local stores, and you will not be disappointed.
