I live in San Francisco and I returned to Bethlehem, Pa. to care for my elderly mother until she died. She died in March and I had to sell her house. The porch needed to be rebuilt so I hired Josh, from a-z home improvements out of the yellow pages. Since I was returning to San Francisco he wanted half of the payment up front, $2,750., which I paid him. He cashed the check, kept the money, and to this day has done no work. This is nine months later. When I spoke with him he suggested that I just let him keep the deposit of $2,750. and I find another contractor. I am currently filing papers to take him to court on a civil action.
