Worst power company ever my power goes out all the damn time for no reason it can be sunny outside and it goes out it went out this morning at 6am and now at 12:20 am I am fed up as much as I pay you damn people each month I never have any power spend some money and fix your damn power lines and transforms!!!!

I wish I were actually laughing

I've been on hold for 20 minutes as I'm calling in to pay my bill. I am currently called #33 I was #39 but I'm thinking their strategy is just hold customers until they hang up. That's my only theory on how they are moving so slowly. Here's hoping they'll accept my payment via phone since I haven't found any way to prove they will.

Horrible service!

This is the only utility company I've had (the displeasure) to work with but I'm pretty sure it's the worst. I'm a very patient and forgiving person but I've been patient and forgiving of Bessemer Utility's service for the 10 years I've lived here and I'm done! There's a laundry list of complaints I have, some of which include: bill doubling for about 2-3 months, the most discourteous and unpleasant customer service staff, having an employee tell another customer to physically close the doors to the building on me as I was entering to pay my bill 10 minutes before closing because they "normally lock up early because no one usually comes in so close to closing" (said to me by employee after I pushed my way in anyway and demanded they take my payment), sorry excuse for a website that provides very little information relevant to the average visitor to the site, I could go on...For 10 years I've paid my bill by check in the mail faithfully the day it arrived in the mail. I stopped paying by check after getting tired of waiting up to 2 weeks for my check to clear. This is why I rushed to Bessemer from the other side of town at 4:30 to try to make it by 5 to pay bill. Website charges $10(?) to pay online. I called today to pay w/debit card over the phone only to get a message saying they were closed-just repeated normal hours, no mention of holiday closing. Granted, today is a holiday but there was no notice that they would be closed (not in list of holiday closings in the paper, not printed on bill, not mentioned on crappy website). There was probably a sign posted on the doors of the building but I generally don't go there to pay bill. Wrote lengthy letter to mayor who admitted that the utility has a reputation for terrible service and that he was working to change that...I'll be waiting...If you've made it to the end of this review, thanks for taking time for my rant...just want any newcomers to Bessemer to be prepared for what's may be in store when dealing with utility.
