When I arrived for my third visit, I once again (for the 3rd time) asked the staff if they'd obtained my previous dental records. Their reply was that since the office was in California, they were having trouble getting in touch due to the "2 hour" time difference. Needless to say, I was completely surprised that they were unable to call California later in the day in order to reach them during office hours. At that time, I was taken to the back so they could take x-rays. Dr. Pate then conducted her check-up and concluded that I needed "gum treatment." I said okay and I met with the administrator Vicky Garvin so she could go over my insurance coverage. She provided me a full breakdown on payment, my portion being $129.60 and insurance covering $518.40. She asked if that was okay, I said yes and scheduled an appointment for the following week. There was never any discussion that coverage would or could be an issue. As far as I was concerned, she had authorization from insurance.





At the next appointment, I once again asked the staff if they'd obtained my previous dental records and they had once again said no. After waiting for a few minutes, I was then called back to commence treatment; which took roughly an hour and a half. Well when the treatment was complete, I approached the front desk for payment. However this time, the administrator, Lissette proceeded to tell me that my insurance wasn't covering the procedure and instead of owing $129.60, I now owed $648. She stated that the insurance said that I have had the procedure in the past 36 months. I said didn't you check my insurance and do a prior authorization? She then told me that checking insurance is not their job, rather it's mine. Needless to say, I was furious. I paid them $130 and I promptly left.





I wrote the office a letter, I sent them emails, all in hopes that they would correct their mistake, honor their quote, and this is what I received. The administrator, Vicky Garvin, the one that quoted me the initial $129.60, continuously called and wrote me saying how much they are sorry for the "miscommunication" and that they gave me a $324 credit. She sent me a new bill stating that I now owe $194.40. Can you believe these people? They never even contacted my previous dentist in which they would have clearly found out that the procedure had been conducted within the past 36 months. They never even called the insurance company to see if the procedure had been conducted, even though I they had informed about the extensive work that I had done upon every single of my four visits.





This dentist and her staff are rude and crooked. They even have the audacity to have sent me text messages and emails; stating that I'm due for my appointment and that I should call them to schedule an appointment. There's no way that I would ever set foot in that office again after the unprofessional way that they've conducted themselves. They would rather collect $194.40 and loose me as a patient, as well as other potential patients that might read this review; than to just do the right thing, honor their initial quote and have a patient for life.
