Dr. Meryl Sundy joins Infocus Eye Care from Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon where she completed her training in 2018. She provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on cataract surgery, medical management of glaucoma and monitoring for ophthalmic signs of medical conditions including diabetes and high blood pressure. She has a particular interest in global health and has been involved with care in underserved areas of Oregon as well as internationally. Dr. Sundy graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in American Studies and French before departing for Senegal to spend two years teaching small business development techniques with the Peace Corps. It was during this time that a local friend and mentor who had severe vision loss inspired her to pursue medicine and eventually ophthalmology. After returning to the US she completed additional pre-medical training at Washington University in St. Louis, medical school at the University of Missouri and internship in Portland in the Legacy Health System. She and her husband Jonathan, freelance character designer and illustrator, are thrilled to be joining the Bend community. Dr. Sundy is a member of the Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology.
