We have bought many items at Foryu Furnishings over the past 4 or 5 years (I can't remember exactly how long). It is by far our favorite consignment store. We live on Capitol Hill in Seattle and have purchased many beautiful things at Foryu over the years. To name only a few--art, tables, chairs, lamps, crystal glasses, a life-sized bronze statue lamp (a wonderful art nouveau reproduction), chests of drawers (one was Ethan Allen), an incredible marquetry piece with marble top, and most recently a gorgeous cordovan leather Chesterfield sofa and amazingly comfortable leather chair with matching ottoman (I've always wanted one like it). You can find everything from traditional to transitional to contemporary, with antiques and beautifully crafted pieces of Asian furniture and décor as well. There are frequently very high-end, quality pieces in amazing condition that we would never be able to afford new. Hiromi the owner is gracious and knowledgeable, as is Scott, one of the employees, who is a wealth of knowledge about furniture and furnishings in general. The Foryu website is the best we have found and is continually updated, so we can look for specific things we have a need for. We have also consigned items at Foryu. The store is busy and if you track their website, you will notice they frequently have new offerings because they continually sell so many items. There are no hidden costs or fees. Commission percentages and delivery fees are explained up front and so is the progression of markdowns if items don't sell. We just figure out what the costs are before we decide whether or not to consign an item. We buy and sell on Craigslist also, so sometimes we try to sell something there first. If we can't sell it or if we don't want to deal with calls and showing, we consider consigning it at Foryu. It is the only store we have ever consigned with. There have been times we actually made MORE money consigning an item at Foryu than we could have gotten ourselves because of the merchandising and presentation at the store. It just depends on the item, how much work you want to put in to selling it, and whether or not Foryu will take it (they are selective and don't take junk or things that need repair/reupholstering...which is ANOTHER reason we like to shop there). We highly recommend this store!!

Fantastic Store and Customer Service

Foryu Furnishings is an excellent consignment store, and the owner and expert employees make it very pleasant and comfortable to work with them when you are selling something personal that means a lot to you. They worked diligently to find a good home for my Mom's Henredon dining room set. They sold it for the full asking price, and they pay you promptly as promised at the end of the month when your item is sold. I highly recommend Foryu Furnishings to anyone who needs their kind of service. I consider them my friends now.
