Bad Customer Service

In this small town of Bedford PA...word of mouth can Help or RUIN a Busisiness......Well in this town the Word of Mouth around town is reall BAD on Eddies Tires on Mile Level Bedford PA........I got tires 2 years ago and the woman that works there was SO RUDE. ( I am being NICE when I call her WOMAN ) I figured people have good days and bad........but as I sat there while they were putting 4 tires on my car, I noticed how RUDE she was to ALL who came in......HOW does she keep her job ????????????? Who Hired her for their Business ? They need to fire her and hire someone with a Nice Customer Service Personality.
So today my husband called there to see if they were open. She answered and told him IF we were not open I would not be answering.......He went in and she would not even look up at him and he asked if they fixed tire ( as he had a flat with a Nail in it ) or sold used tires as his car is a beater ....She said WE DON'T LOWER OURSELFS TO FIX OR SELL USED TIRES. As my husband runs a business in town, he was Shocked from her RUDE NASTY way she spoke....He figured she was having a horriable day........BUT as I told him what I saw/overheard while there and Others came into his business and he spoke to people, they all said the same of that WOMAN and how they would not go back to Eddies Tires........Like I said Word of mouth helps or kills a business here in this small town.

No we will NOT be giving them our business anymore.......and to let you know, I have a BIG Mouth.....and my mouth will be not saying nice about Eddies Tires.......unless that RUDE WOMAN is gone.....I'll be talking to alot of people......

It is not good to have people so RUDE working at your business.......

Really I don't give them ANY Stars..........Just go to other Tire places in this town.......

Thank You

Eddie's Tires in Bedford PA needs to conduct a safety review immediately before "staff" - and I'll expand upon this term in a moment - get seriously hurt.

I took my vehicle in for 2 new rear tires and a rotation. A very dirty small boy aged about 5-6 years old, evidently related to one of the staff, ate his fishsticks off the administrative side of the counter continuously and repeatedly interrupting me as I attempted to speak to the representative to hear price and tire selection. It was not my place to reprehend the child, a sentiment evidently shared by the staff member.

With direction, I drove my vehicle into the tire fitting bay and waited in the customer waiting area. Through the glass, I watched an obviously unskilled tire installer pry off one of my hubcaps with an undersized flat blade screwdriver.

The hubcap launched itself across the workshop floor much to his amusement!

What followed was a litany of bad and unsafe practice. The installer removed all 4 tires and rested them on the hubs - this is an absolute safety violation as the tires rest unsupported and believe me, for I've witnessed this, when they fall, they bounce and roll with the potential to cause serious injury.

I was especially nervous as the small boy was now playing on the floor in the vicinity of my vehicle in the service bay.

Minutes later, when the air line burst (you had to see this to believe it) it 'snaked' at high pressure around the workshop, the small boy and the tire installer running for safety in the customer waiting area while the hose continued to pump out high pressure air. It wasn't until the staff member who took my order went into the workshop to shut the air down and effect a repair on the badly cracked hose (should have been replaced)

I told the young tire fitter that you never, ever remove a hubcap with a screwdriver (good practice is to use a good fitting pry-bar with a rag to prevent damage to the component) and that it was obvious safety was of no concern at this Eddie's Tires depot.

When the task was finished, I paid my bill and was very rudely and sarcastically told to 'Have a nice day'. Driving away from the business, mentally cataloguing the long list of safety violations I'd just witnessed, I noticed the low tire pressure sensor warning light had illuminated on the dash (it was unlit when I took the vehicle in for tires and rotation).

I'd had enough, I wasn't going to take the vehicle back. For what it's worth, the warning light illumination was later traced to a damaged tire sensor inside on of one of the wheels with a new tire.

It's essential that due care is taken when installing new tires on vehicles equipped with these sensors.

I should point out, I am a professional automotive technician of 29 years experience in the automotive field and also write professionally for several automotive magazines. I really thought 'I'd seen it all' over the years, but to experience so many errors from child endangerment, to unskilled and careless labor to rude customer service - all in the space of an hour at a single location, how does Eddies Tire in Bedford, PA remain in business? They must have singled me out. You certainly won't be getting any more business of mine.

Your service was utterly disgraceful and it's establishments such as yours who help perpetuate the poor image the independent aftermarket often suffers from.
