Recently my DVD unit stopped recording. I checked with the Sylvania factory and was told that given that paticular error message the fix was to either clean or adjust the recording lens. To my regret, I took it to Leo's TV service because his ad said he worked on DVDs. I hould have been alarmed when he insisted on a $35.00 "deposit" and the fact that he didn't take credit cards but I'm a trusting sort so I left it with him. Two days later he called to tell me that the problem was that I could record only "one time" on this paticular unit. When I picked it up he also said that the lens could not be adjucted and would have to be replaced. He didn't seem to understand that I had peviously used RW discs with success and that the factory didn't agree with his diagnosis about the inability to adjust the lens. In short, he charged me $35.00 to tell me that he had no idea how to fix the machine. He's not only incompetent he also has no business ethics.
