I recently made an appt and had an eye exam by Dr MacKewiz at the Bear Eye Ctr. Finally, a great experience at an optometrist office from start to finish. The person who answered the phone when I called to schedule couldn't have been nicer. She answered all my questions about my insurance and took time to get an evening appt that fit into my busy schedule. When I arrived at the ofc for my exam I felt comfortable the minute I walked in the door. The ofc looks brand new and is spotless, even though I was told it is actually 10 years old. I completed the paper work and the technician then did several tests before the Dr came in. Make sure you have the optional computerized test. Very high tech.

Dr M couldn't have been nicer or more patient. I even agreed to have my eyes dilated, which I haven't had done in years. The exam was more thorough than I've had in years. Afterward, Dr M took time to explain what he had found and answer all my questions. I was happy to learn that he also sees a large number of children and has special instruments to keep their attention. Ask for room 3 with the computerized video screen. Worked great when I took my 3 yr old to see him a week later.

After the exam I checked out the eyeglasses. The selection is HUGE. And it's not the same old stuff you see every where else. They did have inexpensive frames that were guaranteed for the kids, but for me they had frames I didn't know were available in Bear. From Ed Hardy to Gucci. Also, great selection of sunglasses. The optician was just as nice and patient as the technician. Explained exactly what would be covered by my insurance. Picked up my glasses a few days later and couldn't be happier. I've had problems getting used to new glasses a few times in the past, but not this time. I've been told I'm not easy to please, but have no complaints with this ofc or Dr M. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

From the minute you walk into the Bear Eye Ctr, you are treated as family. The office is beautiful, modern, and spotless. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and Dr Mackewiz couldn't be nicer. He is very patient, even with my young children. He does a complete exam, so bring a driver if you want to have your eyes dilated. Very unique selection of eyeglass frames. He got me seeing better than I have in years. Will never go any where else.
