A lot of problems over an entire year

Overall, we had a very poor experience at Rain Tree Apartments. Our first apartment became filled with bats and the apartment reeked of excrement, fecal matter, and dead bats. The porch was unusable since day one, and the management did nothing about this matter even as I had told them through written email, in person, and over the phone of the circumstances warranting a move within the community. I was told "I was smelling things," "are you sure you are not smelling the dog poop outside?" and that I was witnessing events that did not occur until it was clearly evident that there were 500+ bats living in our apartment walls. As the rancid smell of the bats entered our apartment as they took roost in our fireplace and the smell crept through the walls, I was at my wits end. I had had enough. The problem persisted so badly and for so long (about 6 months of problems) that we were moved to a first floor apartment only after I had said "THIS IS ENOUGH." We had begun to feel ill in that apartment and I know that it is because of the infestation after I spoke with our doctor about it. The second apartment was better than the atrocious and sickening experience we had in apartment #1122. #1313 had been heavily smoked in and the carpet reeked of cigarette smoke. Management was told daily that the carpets needed to be cleaned until their only solution was to put an air freshening (something) to cover up the smell for a few days. The smell only mildly left when I poured 10 pounds of baking soda in the carpet and left it for 3 days, vacuuming afterwards. In addition to the cigarette smoke that we put up with, the apartment was very humid all the time. This problem was only partially solved (also personally!) by buying 6 cans of damp rid and setting them throughout the apartment. Clearing the buckets every week, it was amazing the amount of moisture in the apartment. There are several other problems to list, but the point of the story is that the customer service management provides was absolutely unacceptable. I can put up with a lot of things. I've lived up North in big cities like Cleveland, Ohio, and the Bronx, NY, but I've never been treated with such disdain. I have to say that because of management, my fiance and I, unfortunately, lived at Rain Tree for a year. I am not a man who likes to controversy, and I offered to help with every problem and be VERY VERY patient for management to deal with everything, but I am so disappointed in the manner in which my fiance and I were treated by said management that we wanted nothing more than to leave. We had no other option, so we waited until our lease was up and we left. Additionally, the property wanted to exorbitantly raise the rent. I repeat, EXORBITANTLY. At a lower price, we were able to move to Seabrook to a much larger and nicer apartment complex, with pool, gym, sauna, whole nine yards. Being here, I see that I should have been pushier with Rain Tree, but when dealing with the circumstances at the time I tried to see the positive light in all things. The most positive light shown here was leaving. I did not know we could have so much more for less money than we would have been charged had we stayed. The woman manager from New York whose name I hardly want to remember was the source of the neglectful attitude towards getting things accomplished, and uncaring attitude to help us for an entire year. I do not know about the behind the scenes problems, but Rain Tree needs a hard audit on the contentedness of their residents. The problems we had were incredibly unnecessary and made a period of time in our lives, well, hell that needn't have been walked through. I should have took Mrs. Manager's comment to heart when we first started having problems "Well, in spite of the problems you are having with your apartment, I think your only option is to leave."
