In July 2010, the 18-55 building was hit with Bed Bugs and as of January 2011, 4 apartments have yet to be treated! This is all because the Board members are old timers with nothing better to do and they run the place like an old age home instrad of a well functioning co-op. The maintenance is higher than the surrounding Co-ops mostly because of a historical fraud (again, a corrupt Board member) and complete wastes of money. Ask the neighbors - KSQ snow removal efforts of their parking lots have lagged the neighboring co-ops (the neighbors have MUCH better equipment and their staff is movitated to actually help). Sammy (the KSQ Super) is terrible. He complains and does nothing and they can't fire him because of his union affiliation. And here's the worst - the construction is terrible! Side to side is actually fine, but you hear EVERYTHING above AND below you. And I mean EVERYTHING!!! Phone conversations, general walking, etc. And the KSQ does NOT enforce the House Rules. So my best advice - STAY AWAY! After much research, I will offer the following suggestions (and I will pose a few so that people don't think I have anything to gain) - Cambridge Hall on Union Turnpike is great. If you prefer to stay in Bay Terrace, those 2 story apartments get good reviews, followed by Sections 8 and 10. After that is Bell Apartments. KSQ should be the bottom of your list!
