NA-RUSH-YA

I visited Nagoya for the first time the other day and I have to say that I was very disappointed. I heard from a friend that they had good food there. So I decided to bring my daughter there since she loves Japanese cuisine. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. Once we entered the restaurant, we were immediately seated. The waitress asked us what we want to drink and we ordered our drinks while we looked for a menu. We did not find a menu at the table and thought surely the waitress would bring us a menu. The waitress returned with our drinks and smiled and left. Still puzzled at this point, we waited for our waitress to return and questioned about the menu. The waitress smiled and pointed us to the buffet. We realized at this point that this restaurant was buffet only. Ok, maybe we should have done some more research before arriving, but we figured it out and was eager to try their food. We checked out their buffet and it seems they had some nice selections. My daughter, which was only 10 years of age was excited to try some different dishes. I encouraged her to try as many different dishes as she liked. After approximately an hour of trying different dishes, another waitress shows up at our table with a check and some hot towels while we are still eating our meals. The old American joke comes to mind when eating at oriental buffet, "You been here fo hour, you go now!" Only this time, it did not put a smile on my face. In fact, I was so disgusted that we are confronted with a check and hot towels while we are still trying to finish our meals, that I am ready to leave and never come back. At this point, I inform my daughter that it looks like it may be time for us to leave, but encourage her to finish her meal. My daughter senses the rude environment and puts down her silverware and tells me that she is done. That is when I decide it is time for us to leave. So disgusted with the service, my daughter and I leave the restaurant. I decided that the manager really should know about this after we decided to leave. So I called and spoke with a manager named Peter. I explained the situation to Peter and he was concerned why we didn't bring it to his attention at the time of our meal. I explained to Peter that we were so disgusted with the service that we left. After thinking about it, I decided that it was best if I inform someone so that other guest are not rushed off. I also explained to him that we have visited several Japanese restaurants and have experienced quality service throughout and that we would continue to visit them instead of being rushed off at the Nagoya (na-rush-ya) establishment. All he can say was that he would sorry to hear that. Well, allow me to explain something to you Mr. Peter. I was told by a wise man that you should not pay to be miserable. Therefore, I refuse to offer my money to an establishment and be rushed off by their staff. I will offer my money to an establishment that is appreciative of customers and want my business. There are too many Japanese restaurants in the area that do not offer rude service and appreciate my business. Therefore, I am not going to be rushed away while I am trying to enjoy a good meal when other restaurants are more than willing to accommodate me. So I say that I hope you can correct this problem you are having before you run off the rest of your business. Meanwhile, I will give my business to the other Japanese restaurants that are more than happy to get my business. I can only hope that you do not continue to treat your customers in this manner and allow them to enjoy your buffet no matter how much time they take.
