completely unprofessional! The women have a very hard time speaking English which is their second language but they make it impossible to understand what you wa t done to your hair. Stylist stayed on the phone, even asked me to talk to a client on the phone to translate! While doing my hair she asked me for a ride to the mall-NO. are you kidding?? and after my hair was done she informs me she had no flat iron. the worst experience ever

I took my daughter in to have her hair done before her birthday party and I was so pleased. The ladies were so nice and not to mention fast! Her hair was so pretty and she got so many compliments. Thanks

My first visit to Dakar was wonderful. The owner and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They explained to me the different styles available and which ones would best fit my busy schedule. I appreciate the time and care that was put into my individual braids. I have been there 2x and have referred others to them as well!! Thanks Dakar

DON'T GO THERE! About a month ago, I setup a last minute appointment to get my hair braided here. I was super excited, because the stylist was suppose to do my hair cancelled within 2 hours before my aptmt, after my aptmt had been set 2 weeks in advance, and after she sent me a confirmation email 3 days prior to. The fact that Dakar was willing to take me in the next day was great, or so I thought. When I spoke to who assume to be the owner, I told her I would come as soon as I got off from work at 5:30 and since I didn't work for away that would be within about 30 minutes. I arrived a little after 6 and I was greeted with, "I thought you weren't coming. You said you would be here at 5:30." There was no, "hey, how are you," "how was your day," or anything. I proceeded to go inside and sit down and there were 2 other stylist working. The entire place was silence for at least 30 minutes. Still, no one said "would you like some water," "I'll be with you as soon as I'm done with her." NOTHING. As time passed the 3 stylist began talking in there African dialect and laughing amongst themselves. My first thought was, are you all talking about one of us and if you're not why not speak in English. I assumed maybe I was overreacting, so I proceed to read as I waited for my chance to get in the chair. A few minutes later I noticed a sign concerning only accepting cash payments, so I asked the owner and I had to go to the bank to get some cash. A few mins after I got back, around 7:30, it was turn to get in the chair. I was under the impression that the owner was going to do my hair since she had been the one whom I had been communicating with since I made my appointment and when I came to visit the salon weeks before. So, the stylist wraps a cloth around my under body as do so hair wont be all over your clothes. Well, she the wrap she uses still has hair all over. Next, she sections out of my hair and while she is adjusting my head she pushes it in the directions she needs to go instead of saying, "can you please put your head down." One great thing, though about this salon is that they provide you with hair. The problem with that is they couldn't decide which color was best for my hair since my hair is dark brown with natural goldish-brown highlights. The hair look more of a black tone than brown, so I asked the stylist, "are you sure that is the right for my hair?" She rudely responded with, "Yes! That is the right color." I sat there for about 60 seconds rethinking the prior incident in my head. Maybe I said it wrong. Maybe that's just the way African speaks and I thought about staying. After all I desperately, desperately wanted my hair done. Then, I realized I was about to pay someone $250 dollars to be rude, disrespect, and inconsiderate to me. I politely got up and walked out. Moral of the story if you looking for professional and appreciation when looking for a hair stylist GO SOME WHERE ELSE with their hard earned money, because you will not find those things at this business. From their pictures they have on facebook it appears that they do a good job (that's I went there), but I will never know for myself because my self respect is more important than any hair style.

I will never recommend this salon . They don't guarantee there work ! I have had my braids in for 2 weeks and my head look a mess braids falling out left and right m real hair sticking out of the braid the hair the use is junk basically the only style you can wear is a nasty bun because the hair does not look right down or in a loose pony . I am very upset with their work 200 dollars is not easy to throw away . I thought I had an investment but I was terribly wrong :(
