I've been a customer of Mt. Washington Autohaus since 1994 and will be forever. Brian, the owner, and his two assistants are superior. Over the years I've had four different cars worked on there. The don't fix cars just to get it done and collect a bill, Instead, they tell you what's really needed to actually fix the problem. If they don't think they can fix it right, they tell you and suggest another car repair facility. Some people get put off by that, but I'd rather be treated in an honest fashion. Like the professionals they are, I've observed them regularly confer with one another on a job, to be sure they got it right. The prices seem in line with what I hear and see others charge, but I really don't know since it's been so long since I've been elsewhere.

When your dealer says there's no chance, but you have a sneaking suspicion that something is fixable, consider Autohaus. Brian took a look at my wife's Subaru after the dealer said nothing could be done. he found the problem and fixed it -- by hand. I understand why he has loyal customers.

I have taken my cars to Brian ...

I have taken my cars to Brian for ~15 years.

Brian is a certified airplane mechanic and by extension and most likely has forgotten more about cars than most mechanics will ever know.

Brian's personal and professional integrity, professional competence and delivery of service is beyond reproach.

Brian's expert mechanics, Dan and Rich are incredible in their own rights.

Brian, usually at my insistence, checks every little noise or vibration, even outside my cars' regular maintenance schedule to help me "stay ahead of the maintenance and cost curve." As a result, my expenses in maintaining a 1988 Volvo 740 GLE, amortized over the years have been ~$100/month. That translates into ~1/4 of a typical car payment. My vigilance through Brian's care an careful monitoring of my vehicles has saved me the cost of at least two new cars, resulting in my 1988 currently boasting ~445K miles.

Brian, realizing that I needed new seats took the time to research a source of nearly new seats to match the interior of my car. He located, acquired, and installed them, obviously saving my back, and ensuring the nearly pristine quality of my trusty steed's cargo bay.

I have no idea what I will do if Brian closes his Mt. Washington Autohaus; == Woe unto us. I truly worry about finding as honest, competent, knowledgeable, resourceful, and fairly priced mechanical prize as he with Dan and Rich.

I totally recommend everyone to go to Mt Washington Autohaus. I was extremely impressed with the work, the cost and the great mechanics. I was informed of the cost up front and the work was done quickly and accurately. The owner of the shop really cares about his customers and getting their vehicles back on the road. All the mechanics are very knowledgeable and helpful. It was worth every buck!

DO NOT EVER USE THIS SERVICE CENTER. Highway robbery. They will do work on your car without permission and charge you for it. We have since found out he is known for this tactic. Again, do not use. I feel it' s my responsibility to forewarn others.

I saw the bad reviews on this page and thought that has to be a different shop. My wife and I have taken our cars to Brian and his crew at Mt. Washington Autohaus for over 15 years. I do not have one complaint. He has never done unauthorized work. He has kept our cars on the road for very reasonable rates. On occasion when he gave a big estimate I got estimates from other shops. Brian's estimates always were the lowest. One time he came in under his already low estimate. I do not feel he has ever said I needed something done that didn't need to be fixed. I have never had to have any work done here fixed by another shop. Those bad reviews can't be from this shop.

There is something sacred abou...

There is something sacred about the relationship between a car owner and his mechanic. I believe when you find a highly competent and skilled shop you keep it for life. Mt Washington Autohaus is one of those shops. Brian and his men seem to work miracles when other mechanics say it's not possible. Here is my experience. Driving down the highway at 110 mph my Golf TDI suddenly let out a horrid screech and died. Until I was referred to Brian's shop I took it to a local dealer. So I towed it to the dealer as usual. A day later I was confused when I was told the issue was a fuel pump and filter. But I approved the repair. 903.00 dollars later it still would not run. I am not a mechanic but I know enough to know that something was not right. I questioned the VW service department and they were not as forthright as usual. This made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. 3 hours later I get a call that the turbo charger imploded and the impeller sheered off. Now I knew I did not need a fuel pump.

A friend of mine recommended Brian's shop. So I had it immediately towed to his location. Still I was out 903.00. I could not tow it otherwise. That Monday Brian called me up and confirmed that the turbo was the problem along with a clogged intake. He said if I could wait a day or two longer he had found a used turbo with only 20K miles on it for $700.00 cheaper. What mechanic does that for his customers? I gladly waited the extra time. He also confirmed that in no way could the fuel pump be involved. The turbo came in and he installed it, cleaned out the intake and went over the car. It started right up and purrs like a kitten and fly's like a rocket. His crew identified several other issues that were also repaired.

Here is the bottom line. Brian charged me half of what the dealer was going to charge me for the turbo replacement. That was a difference of $2500.00. He knows these cars like the back of his had. He is tied into the import car community and found solid used parts that work just as good as the new ones. Now for the fuel pump and filter. Brian provided me the paperwork and knowledge to go back to the dealer and secure a refund. And it worked! What mechanic does that for his customers? I have yet to ever meet one. His hourly rates are extremely reasonable. The collective knowledge in that shop is incredible. 35 plus years this shop has been around. I cannot say enough about how great they are over there. They have a customer for life. I know Brian and his crew will keep my diesel running for years to come. In the end I saved over $3500.00 by bringing my car and listening to him. What else can I say?

Unprofessional Mechanic

Terrible customer service. The owner talks down to you, treats you poorly and preforms work without asking you first. Be forewarned you most likely will have to go back twice to get the job completed because it is unlikely that he will fix it on the first go around. Please save yourself the grief I went through and avoid at all costs.

THIS IS AN OUT AND OUT LIE ! No work is done in our shop unless the car is checked out and a written estimate is provided. Our come back rate is practically zero. Our work is then tested to verify the repair . Who is this person ? If anyone wants an honest review of our shop ,they should go to the car talk.com website and check our reviews , I think this should clear up any doubts. We are considered the best in the business and have a 5 star review.
