The food is great, but the hours are annoying. It is such a convenient location for me, but I wish it were open later so I could actually get there. I'm not sure why they close at 3pm, since their other location is open later, but I can't ever seem to get there before the deli is shut down. Even if they would extend their hours until 4 or 5, I'd love it.

I am assistant manager of Brookside Deli and Market at the Oaks in Bakersfield. I am sorry you had a bad experience with the Smith's Bakery at our deli, I do however need to clarify that the Smith's Bakery has nothing to do with the Deli and market and only rent space in our store. We strive to ensure our customers have a great experience at Brookside, and our goal is to correct any mishaps that occur. I only get a birthday once every four years so when this one came along I wanted to treat myself to a special cake, I ordered it from your bakery and was dissapointed, the cake tasted good I have no complaint with that although the white cake was a little dry, I do have a complaint with the way it was decorated. I gave an exact discription on how I wanted it done and the decorator did what he or she wanted. I have never purchased a cake from your bakery that didn't have piping as a finishing touch. It looked like something my grandmother would have made if she was in a rush and wasn't feeling well. I repeat their is no pride in their work and it shows everyday, just walk into anyone of your many bakeries. Thank you for your time, Judy Graviss
