Dr. Kleiner did my Back Surgery. A fusion of L4-5 , S1

I saw Dr. Kleiner in 2001 at my insistence of seeing a surgeon before settling with Workman's Compensation. They told me I didn't need surgery and that there was nothing to fix. I said I wouldn't settle without seeing him. When I met him he was just as nice and pleasant as could be. He examined me and did x-rays and said he could fix the problem. My disc's had dried up and I was rubbing bone on bone and in constant pain. I actually broke into "Tears Of Happiness" (to my grandsons horror) when he said he could do something for me. I saw him a couple times before the surgery and he made sure I understood everything that was going to take place during the surgery (Which included doing it through my old C-section scar instead of through my back like my sister had to have). He showed me the cages he was going to put in and where he was going to take the bone from to put in them. I guess grafting them would be what it is. Now my sister had cadaver bone used and did great but your own bone obviously is better. However, to this day I still have ghost pain on both sides where they took the bone and, I was not fortunate enough to end up pain free after the surgery. There is never a guarantee that you will be pain free, and I'm just one of the unlucky few to not have that aspect cured with surgery. At least my back isn't going in and out of place and I am fixed. He did double the cages he used from 2 to 4 but at least I don't have rods and or screws left in my body. Dr. Kleiner was right at my bedside the morning after the surgery. Holding my hand (Literally!) and telling me all about my surgery. He was always around to answer my questions and looked in on me during my time in the hospital. He made sure I was never in pain and the hospital and nurses he works with were all wonderful also. I had the surgery in Denver even though I live in Colorado Springs and the worst part of anything was the drive home. He was always really good at keeping my pain medications and muscle relaxers filled and used a pharmacy here that delivers (The Medicine Shoppe). I can NOT say ENOUGH GOOD THINGS about this man. As the person I met and the person who did the surgery I was SO happy with him. I don't write on things like this but he deserves it and I am sorry I didn't think of it earlier. All I know is I recommend him to people I know in need and if I ever have to have more surgery on my back or neck.....this is "The Man" I am going to call on first thing!
